  1. Awesome! Congrats!
  2. Nice car!!
  3. A hashtag is used to "tag" a post with different terms in order to aid when people are searching for a specific combination of words. "a word or phrase preceded by a hash sign (#), used on social media websites and applications, especially Twitter, to identify messages on a specific topic."
  4. I have ordered the GL1 through our Napa store to use in my 52 Mercury overdrive. It's what I will use in my 49 special deluxe too.
  5. I've heard you should use GL 1 in a transmission. Is this incorrect?
  6. I have to chime in and say that I am enjoying this thread very much. That Dodge is a fantastic car!
  7. Had a nice hour long drive around central MN this evening. Haven’t been able to take Myrtle out since Sunday with all the rain! Ran great and got a couple of waves. I also upgraded the door hardware.
  8. These photos are amazing. Thank you for sharing.
  9. That sounds great! Had a nice chat with the seller after work. The car is currently getting some brake work done and a couple of other repair pieces. Might get to go see it sometime next week.
  10. The problem is I knew I wanted it when I first opened the ad - ha! I do appreciate any advice about what to lookout for.
  11. Haha! Not married so no one to answer to there. I have a list of things to ask the seller. I am about 4-5 hours north of where it is, so we will have to see! Thanks
  12. Like the advertising said "Drive a Desoto before you decide"
  13. I found a 1951 Desoto for sale a few hours south of me. The pics speak for themselves. Radio Restored Heater, turn signals, back up lights, lighted hood ornament all work. New shocks, carb, battery, starter, exhaust, tires. Correct carpet. Great original interior. Does not leak fluids or smoke. Fluid Drive Brake work being done presently. $6600 Please talk me down from this. I'm going to call the seller this evening.
  14. The carb heat riser on mine does move (the lowers piece pictured does turn by hand and when the motor is running (should it have a spring on it?) there is a similar piece where the bolt pictured is installed, but that does not turn. Will having the heat riser closed cause any issues? I might try this same thing for now to see if the sound changes.
  15. I'm east of Osakis!
  16. Good to know. Thank you
  17. I'll try to post some videos of what the car sounds like at idle and then when I'm on the highway.
  18. That's what I'm afraid of. Does this require removing both manifolds?
  19. Thank you! I have been suspecting this already. How difficult is it to replace this gasket?
  20. The best part of going to look at this Chrysler was that I got to drive my neighbors '49 Special Deluxe for three hours on the round trip! That car truly does running like a sewing machine! So quiet and peppy. Just love driving that car even though it has cosmetic flaws. My '49 seems to be much louder at 55. Maybe his has a different rear end or mine has an exhaust leak.
  21. I'm 30 (31 next month) My first classic car was a '61 Falcon that was my great grandpa's last car (he drove Ford all his life starting with a 1913 Model T). That car is in bad shape though it does run. The trunk is so bad I can't install the new fuel tank without some major work. Used it for my senior photos the fall of 2006 and wasn't able to drive it much after I got it going. That same fall (2006) I got a '52 Mercury at an auction. Never should have done that, but learned a lot through taking the engine apart to have it rebuilt. That car runs and drives pretty well overall now. In June I bought a '49 Plymouth Special Deluxe and have been bitten by the Mopar bug. I really enjoy this forum and all the advice that is being shared!
  22. Yes, definitely. It needs a good cleaning, but the seats are definitely original and the floor mat is even nice, but could use a good scrubbing.
  23. For most probably nothing major, but to get it road worthy it would need brakes for sure - they were nonexistent - the pedal goes to the floor. I would want to repair the exhaust - the tailpipe from the muffler was not present that I could see and the car was a little louder when running that my cars. New radiator hoses - I know, not major. Rocker panels are rusted pretty good on both sides under the trim and would need to be replaced. Since I couldn't actually take it for a drive that was concerning, plus it apparently had been sitting for 30 years. A lot of basic repairs have been done recently to get it to actually run so that will be a plus for the buyer. It has new tires on it, as well. The engine did start easily and purred quietly. Overall it is probably a great project for someone that wants a classic car. Probably not a lot needed to get it road worthy, but since I just bought a Plymouth in June and already have a decent amount invested in that car I can't justify buying this one right now....
  24. Well, this car wasn’t meant to be - at least not right now. It is nice but I just don’t have the initial funds to take on what it needs at present. Hoping it goes to the right home!
