I had a guy come over to me at the gas station this morning and he asked what year my car was and I said a ‘49. “That’s the first car I ever drove!” He took a few photos and was on his way again. He had followed me into town for a couple of miles and I had even casually waved to him in his (newer) convertible as I drove by. Fun to have these interactions! Hopefully more in the months to come. I don’t know if it’s my age (32) or what, but not that many people ask me about the car so far ?♂️

I bought my '49 Club Coupe in the summer of 2019 and I thoroughly enjoy having it. I wasn't looking for one, but happened upon it on Facebook marketplace. When I went to see it I knew I had to buy it since it was beautiful and original and smelled like the old '62 Belvedere I used to play in as a kid. The owner was assured that I was not buying it to resell, but to keep, maintain, and enjoy it. I will periodically text the former owner to let him know of any updates or special moments I've had with the car. I hope to have many more adventures with it!

I definitely agree with these sentiments, Keith. If my '49 Plymouth was as nice as it is new (fresh looking paint and a very nice interior) I would still enjoy it. You've already put a lot of work into your '38 and it looks great and I love the way you enjoy it and share your progress. My '52 Mercury is a lot more original and untouched other than rebuilding the engine. The inside has mouse holes in the headliner and the seats would benefit from being redone. The trunk has some holes in it and the lid doesn't shut properly (still haven't figured that out...). I feel more comfortable driving that car around on gravel roads, I guess.

That is really strange! Must have either been backed into with something at that height or backed into something that made the scratches/gouges. My grandpa backed into my 2000 Chevy Malibu with his combine about 10 years ago and it was just the right height that the fins on the back of the combine chopped the antenna off clean and made some light scratches in the trunk lid. Replaced the antenna, but never did fix the scratches. The car still runs fine, but has definitely collected more rust since that incident!

Would you say that the fluid drive is what allows the Meadowbrook to handle so well in the snow?

Must have been quite an event! I have a 2000 chevy malibu with scratches on the trunk lid because my grandpa backed into it with a combine the fins on the back were just the right height and all that happened were the minor scratches and the antenna being snapped off.

A 1942 DeSoto would be pretty amazing. I'd also enjoy have a '39 Plymouth - four door. Oh, maybe a '38 Plymouth with suicide doors. I just think a Plymouth is the right size car for me overall. A Plymouth or Dodge truck from the 1930s would be really fun to have too.

I'm so glad you can enjoy your Dodge into late November! With three snowstorms in central MN already by Plymouth is tucked away in the barn... My Mercury is more the condition of the Meadowbrook, but really your car is nicer. Since you drive it year-round, maybe I should follow your lead?!

Keith, I wish I could hang out in your garage while you're working on all of this! Ideally I would pull the engine on my 49 to work it over. Unfortunately, I don't have the heated space to do this and I don't have anyone locally to guide me through the process. I'll just have to watch your process from afar. Thanks for all the great videos and information.

Had a dusting of snow in Central Minnesota on Friday morning and expecting inches on Wednesday with more storms after... Winter (whoops) came early this year... ick.
