  1. Can you take a few pics of this? Currently the hood is open, I do not want to shut it and try to release manually with out being sure I can! Thanks for all the help.
  2. Well, 1st for everything I guess. As I made it home from a spring maiden voyage, I pull into garage, pop the hood, and the hood release cable broke. Now, question is can I release the hood manually? Also, how do I replace the little wire? 1950 Coronet
  3. Unfortunately it looks like my original radiator is near end of life. Getting more pinholes and each time one is fixed, more arrive. So, before it ends up giving up at the wrong time ( Murphys Law) I am looking at getting a 3 core aluminum and painting black. I have a 50 Dodge Coronet with 230/gyro. Does anyone have a good part number I can trust? Just want to make sure before ordering. Thanks much!
  4. I used the vinyl that is used on the kick panel of cabinets or sometimes walls. They come in 4ft sections I think if I remember correctly. But if you flip the pcs over, they have small ribs, sort of like the original look. I cut to fit and for about $5, look great (in my opinion).
  5. Took her out for her 1st cruise of the year also 1st time out since I lowered her last week. Everything checked out fantastic and getting out was even better!
  6. Thanks for all the responses. To answer some, it broke when I was trying to remove the nut, so I could change out the shocks. I do not know if the air shocks (on when I got the car) put to much tension on that end over time, or if it was cross threaded before, or if it was just rusted on. But when I went to remove, it broke right off. I did find a replacement, that I hope will be here today on Amazon, it is actually a Monroe part #. Some of the "universal" ones I found were too small on the threads going into the axle mount. I was able to break it all free, and now just waiting on the new part to arrive. Thanks all!
  7. Well, I have my first broken bolt, guess my luck ran out. Best suggestions now?
  8. As it gets close to time to take my 50 Coronet out of hibernation, I am going through the checklist of items. One item that in "my mind" I thought I have read somewhere, is that the brakes do not self adjust and need to be adjusted "so often". Car was braking fine in late fall, so is this something I need to adjust, and if so how often do I need to?
  9. Where would be a good spot to tap into the 6V circuit on my 50 Dodge? Not an electrical guy and I do not want to tap into a wrong spot and cause any issues.
  10. Well the project started in the winter, and carrying over to spring
  11. As I am having an interior makeover this winter on my 50 Coronet. I thought I would share what was found when my headliner came out. Any info that you all would be able to add would be cool. I plan to frame it once I am all done.
  12. Finished my wheel up and installed this weekend.
  13. I'm redoing my steering wheel this winter also. I have a Krylon Almond with Tri glass clear. I can post pics also when completed.
  14. Thank you all for the response. Helps a lot.
  15. 50 Coronet that I will he lowering 2 in. Stock replacement calls for Monroe 31000 or any brand similar. My question is do I need to find a 2in “shorter” shock, or will the 2 in drop not make a difference in shock choice?
  16. Thanks JSabah for the pics. Still thinking someone has a color name that would match close to original. Thanks again for the pics.
  17. Trying to find a current rattle can color to match my steering wheel. My wheel paint is either rubbed off or faded bad enough that I cant try and match. Has anyone repainted a wheel for a 50 Dodge Coronet that could send me a paint name that would match close to original. Thanks in advance.
  18. I wanted to circle back and thank everyone for the assistance. Purchased a new sending unit, repaired the old section of wire and now have a perfect working system. Thanks again!
  19. Here is what I have found. I have found that my 6V hot wire going to my gas gauge has visible of being burnt and my gauge is also burnt at that female terminal. I have a new gauge, but now I am worried to clean up that wire and install again with the fear that I would burn up another gauge. What would cause this wire to get hot like this, and or where else should I check? Obviously I can trim back the exposed wire and reinstall another end, but not sure if I needed to check anything else.
  20. I am trying to figure out the same thing. I show 6V reading on my SW terminal. I assume if I test GA wire and see zero Ohms then my unit would be bad. Not to infringe on Go Fleiter post.
  21. How/where would I see if the tank is ground?
  22. Since I’ve owned my 50 Coronet for a year my gas gauge hasn’t worked. Tonight, I checked and found that I am getting 6v to the gauge. I assume this means my sending unit it bad? If so, how do I replace it? I see in the trunk a locking ring, does this come off and sending unit comes out the top of tank? Thanks in advance.
  23. My friend has a 54 Chevy that he is going to install new rear springs, but they will lower his car about 2 in. I'm sure its a new spring, but de-arched in a way to then lower the car. I am also wanting to lower my 50 Coronet, but before I purchased 2in blocks I was wondering if this option existed for our Dodge Plymouth makes?
  24. Thanks both for the responses. The post seems very tight, I will need to get some penetrating oil on it. Thanks again.
  25. When closing my hood (50 Coronet) I have to give it a few hard slams to get the latch to close. I can not see anywhere where the hood is hitting, but hard to latch. Are there any latch adjustments?
