  1. Backing up a bit. Forgot the vapor barrier.
  2. Does anyone have a good pic of a finished B-panel on a two door sedan (or even a coup)? I'm trying to understand how the upholstery up the panel will look as it's finished out.
  3. That's one of two Pioneer TS-A1371R 5-1/4" The speaker covers are motorcycle headlamp covers with a vintage-style speaker cloth under the cover. (I gave up on the exciter plan) The speakers were donated from a friend's father who worked for pioneer at one time.
  4. This is a wrestling match. Starting at the back and pulling, nipping and tucking my way to the front.
  5. Probably added base by blowing over a jug
  6. You probably remember what it was like to be my age, but period correct implementation is critical. Weather seal around the lid and hidden cork gaskets behind the grill makes for rattle free implementation too.
  7. DVW, that's the tack strip that goes in the cavity there so that the upholstery material and headliner "tail" can be tacked into place. Its a hard rubber strip that will hold staples and tacks well. I think the original was an industrial strength cardboard-like material. It had pretty well much hardened and crumbled in my '47.
  8. Expensive in MI too and lead time can be forever. All the shops around here focus on insurance related jobs and wont take restorations without paying a lot. My dad and I finally just did it ourselves in the driveway. Its not the best job, but then I have most of my life to make it better.
  9. I wish I could put that one on my dad...?
  10. For the record, my last was another joke. I'd hate for you to think that was real advice. Mr. Buchanan was correct, I cut/poked a whole in the fabric where the bolts lined up. You leave the plastic in the fabric.
  11. Our you could try crazy glue. Just cut all that extra fabric out of the way, bolt the fender in place, and then glue the welt down
  12. I used VW/Carman Gia clips.
  13. Will do. More info on tack strip for anyone looking. both are 3/16 thick. Universal Tacking Strip TS-45983-A (1/2) and TS-45983-C for 11/16
  14. Tack strip from Bob Drake. He's a Ford guy so I hope the Plymouth doesn't reject it. Anyway, now we know its a tack stip. Initially we thought is was structural support. 11/16 in the A pillar and the tray package. 1/2 in the B pillar. There is also a ridge on both sides of the roof line. 1/2 would go in there, but I'd rather leave what's there alone. It's brittle but still in firmly. Dad says I should replace it now while we have it exposed?
  15. Need an assist. I cant recall what specific order that this hardware for the vent windows go back together. Thought I took a picture, but there have been too many pictures. Looking it up in the parts manual, but do any of the original masters know off the top of their heads?
  16. Look what I found inside the vinyl cover on the sun visors. It's the original visor cover crumbling into dust on the edges. The internal board is in great shape. I really like the trim and stitching around the edge on the original so we will try to replicate that.
  17. Dad finished the trunk out for me last night. I'll give him a thumbs up. Whole trunk has sound strips and insolation. Walls are vinyl fabric from Joan fabric including the tire well walls. There is a more rugged all weather carpet in the center tray and the bottom of the wheel well. The tweed insert ties it all back into the color scheme. All the center pieces are installed to be easily removed so I can get to the gas tank access panel.
  18. Little more eye candy
  19. It will also be easier to make the new one look the same as the older one than the other way around
  20. It may not be as shiny as the newer script, but I think the "vintage" stripped down scripts fits the color better. Opinions?
  21. Does anyone get it? Sticky substance + dusty location = fuzzy trim
  22. I guess that's what I get for trying to use one of my Dad's jokes
  23. It's actually an easy install. Just run a bead of glue along the location where the whiskers attach and then set the garnish behind your refrigerator for a little while.
  24. Yes, I only have one rear shield and it's on the car already. Dad came home the other day with this front shield. I had just assumed that these were nearly impossible to find. Most are either already connected to a car or rusted out. This one is in good shape and only needs a good sanding and repainting to be like new. BTW, Mr. Brandon the Plymouth Doctor had this in his shop and let it go for a really good price. He has been very helpful to us on this project. I'm lucky that he is located just up the road 30 minutes
