  1. Just drove 8 miles each way to town to the local Tim Hortons, to pick-up a can of coffee. Nothing like Timmies (Canucks know what I mean), an old car ride, and cool weather, car ran great all the way, electrical system must be fine, headlights on, heather motor fullblast, dash light too, signals when necessary, life is good, the ride is better with more air in the tires.....
  2. Just tried the Greybeard method of jacking up front end, and moving tire out at bottom, where there is play from the wheel bearing, tried to move the tire inward at the bottom, no play, which indicates tight king pins. I have tested the king pins before, they hae no real play, the tie-rod ends are fine too.....Fred
  3. My current tires are, Good Year Wrangler RT/S, P 205 75 15s, made in the 51 st week of 1997, they have 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch tread depth. These tires are old, and should be replaced, but not sure thay are the harder ride cause....Fred
  4. Hi Robert, no I realize it will not ride like my 2005 Caravan on these roads. The ride is more choppy thats for surer, it is more of a vibration, I can feel in the body going down the gravel roads. Wish you lived near by, could let you drive it and see what you think....Fred
  5. Thanx Bill, got 30 to 32 range in mine, but not sure what my hard ride is about, would very tight or seized king pins cause this?.....Fred
  6. Hey Steve, that looks like a good fit, good enough for you, good enough for me......Fred
  7. Okay Mike, yes Roberts are fine, but what can you tell me about there door weatherstripping. Have you installed there door weatherstripping on your car?.......Fred
  8. Thought about this, but not sure it would make a huge difference, if other things ae going on, it would help with that boat folat thats for sure, and better handling....Fred
  9. Hi Reg, radials Good Year but a sorta SUV style, maybe they are a little hard, inflated to 30 lbs....
  10. Hi all, okay I have asked this before some of my rougher ride is because of no door panels and headliner etc. My front end seems reasoanbly tight, springs okay new shocks. My 47 seems to ride hard and somehwat rough on the gravel roads and rougher pavement railway track etc. Now what is athe leading cause of rough ride in our cars, is it king pins, control arms, body mounts, just trying to see what I may need to correct next spring. BTW the interior will be done by spring, that will help with the noise , but not rough hard riding.....Fred
  11. Frankie, I know Steel Rubber has superior products, but I have used Roberts products with great success, these are not generic weatherstripping, or NOS, they may have the generic type too. What I am trying to find out is this, who has used Roberts or Bernbaums door weatherstrip on coupes, and how were they?.....Fred
  12. Anybody use the Roberts or Burnbaums door weatherstrip on a Coupe, if so how were they? Did they have the thicker rubber with the metal backing for the door bottom? I wan to order a pair for my car, but want to know what some of you guys used. The other short piece that goes on the bottom front, the one that attaches to A pillar, those suckers are expensive, mine are shot, so are my parts cars too.......Thanx Fred
  13. Hi Lou, have to agree, on these 2 points. But as you and I both know know very wellin life, people do as people do, some of these types this will go right over there heads, so no sense in fretting over them too much. Hey Tim I hope did not give you the master suite....LOL, the attic with a cot, saw this on a BMW commercial, young Guy is staying with Girlfirend's folks, Dad likes car, and gives the "Master Suite " to new Beau, hope it's air conditoned........Fred
  14. Okay, had to go for a ride with a brutal Northwest wind, and snow flurrie flakes coming down, temp is colder at 36. This morning in the closest town, I saw about a 30 Model A sedan, and a 1955 Chev 4 door driver type cars milling around. The 47 ran nice and warm, need to finish interior, weatherstrip doors, insulate roof and floors, will make it really toasty warm at these temps, below 0 I have driven this car, but not my idea of fun, unless it is absolutely calm.....
  15. Near Winnipeg Manitoba dusting of snow by morning, by noon all green again, but a cold northwest wind.....
  16. Depends on if your in Churchill Manitoba Town full of these critturs, even has a Polar Bear Jail for wayward bears, or on the freeways of Toronto Ontario, fighting traffic day on day out in our Largest city of approaching 6 million people, then you go to the Toronto Zoo to see a few PBs......
  17. Will have to settle for close enough, I am okay with that, but your idea is sound.....
  18. Hi Greg, used to do this for my vehicles too, some people still use winter front and things to keep the rads warmer. I find modern vehicles are fine to about -40, and with hotter systems all work well.
  19. Pic out my front door looking west, there are snow flakes falling, it is now sunny with some flurries falling. The seat with the blanket to stay warm, and the 47 freezing here butt off. Tim I had to paint my door jambs with a foam brush, mixed the paint, with a bit of reducer and hardner, will never do it that way again, had no choice, as spraying would no doubt get over spray on my exterior of the car, should have don this are first.....Fred
  20. Tim this year Septemeber was so warm, the leave hardly have change colors, you should see my Green Ash trees dropping there leaves after last night's frost, still greeen, kins weird. The old Farmer's Almanac, says it will be less snow and colder up here this winter, oh yay, can hardly wait. Well the skeeters are gone, lots of flys around, Geese are going crzy, Badld eagles flyin all over, some Gold Finches still hangin out. Yes there was some frozen water on the General store lot, but it was melting quick. The trouble is this, there is a huge lake the size of Lake Erie 10 miles from here, that open water makes it very damp and chilly here.....Fred
  21. Hi all, had to go for a cool Manitoba morning ride to the local General Store with the 2 kids to get gas and treats. My 47 ran great, but with an outside ambient temp of 28 to 30 farenheit, the engine ran at about 150 for the 8 mile trip, I am running a 160 t/stat, she may have been opened only partially. Before I fixed my heat riser, which used to be frozen in the cold warm-up position, the engine would run warmer on cool days, maybe no one else might agree with this, but having the heatriser working and allowing the hot exhaust gases to exit more freely has lowered my engine operating temps. I have no trouble driving my car, in cooler temps, almost immediately after starting. The car was warm enough, but with no headliner, door panels and insulation, the roof inside was cool to the touch. I also need to install new weather stripping, gotta get rid of the drafts.
  22. Hey thanx Guys, I know I have asked this ??? a few years ago, but I really wanted to know what may be a slick way to cut outa pattern. Gonna try this out, sure it will be fine. I am not using the heater vent kick panels anymore, don't see the point, my car is not completley stock, nor is she a show winner, just an old driver, giving reliable service. I spoke to my seat upholsterer, he will be doing the front split bench this way, backs and bottoms, will be dark blue vinyl, the seat faces themselves will be grey cloth, with OEM pleats, and seams sewed in. The back seat will be light grey cloth, and dark blue vinyl on the bottom front of the seat, the seats will be 2 tone, but with both vinyl and cloth. The door panels will be the same grey cloth, the armrests will be dark blue vinyl, the kick panels will be dark blue vinyl also. I will buy a ready made headliner in grey of some sort The price is quoted at $600 for both seats, any spring rebuilding will be a little extra....Fred
