  1. Pics of the inside of the sender, no wonder could not get an Ohm reading ora bench test with gauge too work. It will now be used to modify a universal sender as Bob Amos instructs..
  2. Pulled an old sender from parts truck, ohm reading at full showing 50, not reading well, all over. I hooked it up to my gauge in truck with jumper wires, at full level float arm up, no reading, at empty down, pins gauge. This sender must be toast. The sender in truck, just moves gauge a bit, even with 20 bucks of gas, so not working either, all wiring is new, and all grounds and connections tight and clean, back to the drawing board....
  3. THanx Tod, never saw that tutorial before, got me thinkin/plannin
  4. THanx, but don't think so, JC Whitney has the types, that require machine screw fastening, would those work on my application?
  5. Hey, does anyone know, where I may be able to buy a universal 12 volt fuel sender unit, that would work in my 56 Dodge/Fargo pickup. I have the twist in type, that does not have the typical 5 machine screws. I am thinking of going with a universal type, if possible and a universal gauge, something that might fit in the oem bezel....thanx
  6. Sounds like you been busy, how about some updated pics when you get a chance. Very interested, to know how you solved the hot fuel issue?, as many have fought that battle myself included. What temp does engine run at in the heat of a Las Vegas summer?
  7. That whiskey wouldn't be clear Shine, we call that White lighting up here:D
  8. Tommy, got any videos of the engine running, sure looks cool....
  9. Hey Jon, was not putting down your idea, and if it worked on your engine great. I just wanted to steer Original Poster away from the "snake oils", at least until He found out why it was blowing smoke. More than likely he has bad rings or valves, even though the bottom end seems sound... [How that happen?, did it break off and get sucked into cylinder, I have bent sparkplugs that were 2 long, but the valves are the culprit, right under the plugs.QUOTE=Scruffy49;328069]J I picked up a spare engine to redo for my truck when I was moving from Washington to Tennessee. 230 out of a 56 or 57 Savoy. $125 for a running engine, that I've never bothered to start since the #4 plug electrode very obviously smacked the piston... Full rebuild here was quoted $1500-2500, can do it in my driveway for about a quarter of that. It's just 6 Briggs and Stratton mower engines stuck together in a line... Sometimes a partial rebuild can be done with good results, many were done back in the day.
  10. Good thinking Shel, this has happened to a few Guys in the past. So check the fitting depth on compression tester gauge, make sure it does not thread in to deep, or smacking valves....
  11. I think you get Peach trees to survive here, but not thrive, they do no grown in ND, so not my chance here. Water and sewer lines are 7-8 feet underground, average ground frost is 3-4 feet here, with a good snow cover much less, and areas that are trampled with cars, could be 6feet of frost. It is funny though, on warm winter days, my water spiggot on south side of house flows, have seen insects buzzin around outside on warm February days too
  12. Hey Paul, all apple, grapes, and some pears, are all hybrids, designed in Manitoba at Morden to tolerate, cold snaps to -30 and -40 even. Peaches might tolerate down to 0, but have never seen any survive here, the cold snaps are 2 long. I have my genetically modified grapes bred for zone 4 on south side of house, we are zone 3a-3b, where Fargo and Grand Forks ND are zone 4, see how cold it can be here.. Most apple tress, are grafts on crap apple root stock, don't ask me how I first discovered this
  13. Canadian Peaches, Apples Pears, grapes etc, grown in BC or Niagra region, not till July August, they have winter but very mild compared to Manitoba,Saskatchewan and Alberta, where it can be very cold. But having said that we still grown beautiful veg gardens, apples, even grapes at my place, nothing like Cal, but they still grow....
  14. Niece and Her Husband live in West Chester Pa, they love your winters compared to here. He works for the Phillies so they go to Florida a bit too, for training camp...
  15. Fired up old Fargo, she was shivering but running proud outside was at least 6 below. You southern Guys, ever see exhaust fog, well here is some...
  16. Hey my 2dogs Male Golden R,Female Border CollieX, neighbors female GR, and other neighbor Female Hound mutt, all havin a ball at my place at 6 below, thems tough Doggies...
  17. How do those Palm Trees and other tropical type vegetation survive there, guess they can take below freezing a bit now and then....
  18. Its -13, this morning, dry and calm, daytime high only 0, typical january cold stuff. This weather like North Dakota and Alaska, parts of Minnesota...
  19. Hey Greg, both, some eggs to wake up too...
  20. Thursday it was 37, so temps fluctuate here too. Canada is a big country, it was 57 in Toronto today..
  21. Nope, not sure, but hard to believe summers are hot and humid at times just like the south..
  22. Had a wicked Blizzard last night wind howled for near 24 hours, snow and cold, it had been mild for a few days prior, oh well such as life in Manitoba. With the windchill, wind gusts to 50 mph, it was -25f, air temp down to below 0. today fired up old John Deere blower, drifts were as hard as rock, had to break a lot of it with shovel first. The afternoon sun came out, wind died right down, but cold, 6 below right now, with a very clear sky.....some pics PS fired up 55 fargo, and had a cruise, good heat, but need frost shields....
  23. Think you have yourself 3.90s in there, at 22f you could get snow. We had a blizzard here last night, with the windchill it was down to -24, and 0 air temp, huge snow drifts, such as life in this part of canada...
  24. The gear ratio, will be stamped into the top of the pumpkins casing, it should be marked, have a look. See if you can find 46-48 Chrysler wreck, they have the 3.54 diff gears a lot of the times, if you can get them, a straight forward swap, and improved cruising speed and corresponding lower rpm,..... BTW the sheet metal on the moredoor, looks rust free, the floors good like that too?
