Uncle-Pekka Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 I just read that they can get a gallon for $6.68 in New Zealand! That is a steal in modern world! In Finland we pay today USD 9.67 for 95oct. (1.60 EUR/liter) and that is less than what our neighbours in Norway, (the folks who have oil fiels of their own at Nordic sea), do pay. I just bought me a 1961 Cadillac. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Than you'll really hate us for our "LOW PRICED" $4.15 per gallon 87 octane gas. Quote

Merle I am hatin anyplace:D that has cheaper gas than in my locale, rigch here rigth now reg gas is $5.12 a US gallon, or $1.33 per the (not wanted measurement by most old school Canadians) per litre. Were does it end:eek: , heck it is costing a small fortumne this summer to cut grass, till the trees and gardens, weed whacking, snowblowing, ridng the 47, thenthe 2 vehicles to go to work, now does this sound like a " Country Tune" to you. Chorus: The gas is up, but I am down, whats a poorboy to do, when my horse is broke down can't buy gas, and the hay is all gone better stick out my thumb, till the gas comes down okay I won't give up my day job.............Fred Quote
RobertKB Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Guys, gas ain't coming down significantly so get used to it. What I don't like is if there is the slightest sabre rattling or one of our world leaders farts in public that is an excuse for the speculators to drive up the cost of oil. However, with the demand in India and China, any oil we save will be gobbled up by them. Price ain't coming down! Quote

Robert it is highly likely that your speculation is correct, and we the consumer have to use this commodity, we have no reasonable choice at this point in time. However I never thought mortgage interest rates in Canada would be as low as they have been in the last 5 years either, after the interest rate heights of the early 1980s, up to what 16 to 18 % I also never thought our Loonie would be on par with the US Greenback, but it is. So I never give up hope that oil/gas will someday come down in price. The other day at work, some people were saying that in order for the price of oil/gas to come down, the American people would need to get very fedup/angry to make this happen. They were also saying how Canadians always except a lot of things, ie gas prices, when we should be protesting, another thing we took dry, was the GST tax, we canucks do seem to take a lot of crap without dishing it back to the government...............Fred Quote
