I'm doing a little research into adding signals to my car. I have dual element bulbs in the rear, tail light and brake light. They are not offset pin bulbs though. That shouldn't make a difference should it? I'm thinking the the brake light side is what would flash.

What local auto parts store would have the universal switch? I read on here they cost $20-25 at places like napa. I just left there and they want $85.

Yes......those turn signals are more like $45 to $85 bucks in various

places. Can't recall what they were at O'Reilly - don't know if you

have them there. I bought the $20 version sold by some people....but have

been having problems with it due to its internal construction. Have already

had to "fix" it once, and it's messing up again. Just made too cheap.

Try any and all different auto stores you have.

Also check ebay......occasionally can get a good buy on there. Just be

sure it is a 7 wire unit. Some of the old ones were only 5 wire.

taillightking.com has a couple different add on switch units for less that 40 plus on line wiring diagrams. You need a 7 wire set up. You will also meed to run a seperate wire for your center brake light or it will flash with eithcer signal.

You can buy the turn signal units for about $20 from Rod and Custom Supply. They are cheaply made though...

You can change out the front park light wire bases, to put dial fillament bulbs in the original sockets. I bought the wire guts for mine at a truck stop...

I installed turn signals on my 40 Ply. I utilized the existing park lights for the front turn signals and the existing stop light bulb serves as the rear turn signals. This way, I did not need to modify anything, just "add". I agree the stop light operation is unaffected by the turn signals and visa versa.

I would like to find a flasher that beeps since my turn signals are not the type that returns to neutral after the turn. The 12V flashers I've seen have the sound feature but not the 6V. I have the indicator lights on the turn signal switch, but fail most of the time to see them flashing (especially daytime). Causes a large amount of waving (and other jestures) from those passing.

Don, I had the same problem but it can be fixed easily. Radio Shack has a small piezio (sp?) sound emitter that runs on something like 4-16 volts. Just splice it into the signal bulb and it will beep in a most annoying manner. I put a piece of tape over the holes to quiet it down some.

I don't have any from parking lights, I'm either putting something behind the grill or maybe something inside the stock headlights. I haven't really figured that part out yet.

If you have a Motorcycle shop in your area, check to see if the hve used or new replacement signal stalks. You can make up a mountaing bracket, swich the bulbs over to 6v and run them as marker/signals or just signals. they are small enough to go just about any where and bright enough to be seen. If you want to use them for markers and signals get fronts, if you want just signals you can get rears. Usually front use a dual filimant bulb and socket and rears use a single. I have single element units mounted as rear amber flashers on mine. I mad a bracket that bolts into the oufte bumper bolts. and the lights stick up just over the rear bumper.
