I just recieved a new fuel pump from our local part source and it has a glass fuel bowl on it where the old one didn't.

I know the one with the glass bowl will work but why would some have the glass bowl and some not? and I would suspect the one with the glass bowl would be better because it's kinda like getting a fuel filter with your pump is that safe to say? Plus it looks cooler:)

I think the glass bowl fuel pumps where the earlier years and they were replaced with the no glass ones. I had ordered a new fuel pump from NAPA a few months ago and received the with the glass bowl also. The one without the bowl have a screen to filter the gas

I bought a new one the other day from Napa for my 38 Dodge Coupe with a 1952 230 in it. I just asked for a fuel pump for a 52 Dodge and got one with the glass sediment bowl too. There is a brass screen in it where the glass bowl seats with the pumpbody.

same here for my '49. Napa pump with the glass bowl to replace mine that did not have one. I did have a glass bowl (filter) in line between pump and carb but am removing that one.

Lat summer I tried to buy the one without a glass bowl and though the parts computer showed a picture of the one without the bowl, when it came, it had the bowl. They ordered another and it also came with the bowl.

The odd thing was if you ordered the one with the bowl, it would cost about $35 more than if you ordered the one without the bowl even though what you got was the exact same pump.

I just got my new NAPA glass bowl pump yesterday.

When I opend the box last night to install it I tried to acuate the pump by hand and could not push the arm down. It will move upwards slightly but not down. Should I be able to move it by hand? I can the old pump, but then maybe that is why it is not pumping enough fuel.
