55 Fargo Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Hi all, what is this world of ours turning into. Shortly before 11:00 PM on Thursday night, 12 members of the Winnipeg Police Drug Task Force were executing a warrant in the South Central Neighbourhood of Fort Rouge. The officers were met with gun fire and 3 were shot, they all are recovering in hospital, one officer is in guarded condition as he suffered a gut shot. The bullet went under his vest somehow and he took a shot to the lower abdomen. The lowlife perpetrator was also shot and unfortutantely is going to live. He is a member of a puppet club, which is associated with a large well known criminal organization. Sorry if I am ranting but as I also work in the law enforcement, and these incidents hit home to all of us, that go to work trying to keep society safe..................Fred Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 wtih no disrespect to our lawyer buddy Louman...but...chances are he will get let go on a technicality..as in, was the officer's gun safety checked on a timely schedule and signed off and if not documented then it is neglience on the Police Dept. and they are accountable for accidential malicious wounding while a professional was executing the skills of his trade (drug trafficiing) Quote
55 Fargo Posted December 9, 2006 Author Report Posted December 9, 2006 In Canada you face much stiffer sentences if you are a member of an Organized Crime group or if your offence involves a firearm. Our laws are based in English Common-Law, but amendants to the Criminal Code Of Canada, are being amended more to prosecute criminals with stiffer sentences.......Fred Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Rockwood, As a retired Deputy Sheriff I know where your coming from. I hated do have to go to a Hospital or homes of offiers who were hurt or killed on duty. I had to retire due to a drunk driver hitting me and breaking my back. She was out of jail before I was out of the hospital. Dennis Quote
