Howard Tarnoff Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Hi all, I have been silently watching the forum for the last year as I have played hell getting Magoo finished. Bottom line is that my "investment in my friend" did not pan out and I had to pull it from him last August. So much for being a great friend and providing seed money to start a venture. Lesson Learned:( Magoo spent the winter in the very capable hands of Xtreme Restorations by Todd Lewis in Slatersville RI. I am happy to report that after much rework we are off to the interior shop on May 2nd. We had an issue with the motor in that Shot Peen was discovered in to the oil pan after the initial 10 minute run up...ARGH...so like everything else it is being redone as I write this. About 100 photos are here if anyone has any interest. http://picasaweb.google.com/CrusinDuck/Magoo?authkey=C93ng_ctOmk I want to publicly thank Blueskies for his assistance over the year as I have reached out to him for guidance off board and really appreciate his help and encouragement. Completion photos will be posted on or before June 10th. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Howard, That's looking good can't wait to see it finished. Thanks for the update. Dennis Quote
Johnny S Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Thanks Howard....I almost sent you a note the other day asking the question ....... "What's up?" It must have been the right time to report. I like what I see. I will be very very interested to see your specs on the Currie rearend. I've been looking at a similar unit for my P18 as well and really want to know what dimensions you settled on and how they work on the road. Also, it looks like you've stayed largely with a "stock" front suspension with brake, sway bar and shock attachment mods. Again....my interest remains high on these as well. I really like how the dash is coming along and hope the engine problems get worked out to your satisfaction. Thanks for jumping back into view with the update. Quote
blueskies Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 I want to publicly thank Blueskies for his assistance ... Happy to share what I can... Looking forward to the finished product! Pete Quote
TodFitch Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Its looking good. Shame to have paid for poor work that needed to be redone. I've done that myself but generally the poor quality work was something I did myself. It usually takes me a couple of tries to learn new things. You car looks like it will we great when it is done. tragic59 Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 That looks great. This is my first time seeing the car, as I wasn't on the board a year ago... I love the engine details, and the dash and steering wheel are incredible. Didn't read EVERY caption, but it looks like there's some pretty heavy pearl in the paint. Quote
Howard Tarnoff Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 I feel all tingly after looking at those pics, Howard That's gorgeous!! Can you expound on the front stabilizer bar? Brendan D25 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Howard, Magoo is looking good. What model Toyota did the sway bar come from? Quote
Howard Tarnoff Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 From Todd at Xtreme: Correction on sway bar.: 1970-71 Dodge Challenger or Cuda rear sway bar with 8 3/4 rear end is what we used in the front of your car. Todd:) Quote
Brendan D25 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Thanks, Howard, that wil save me the trouble of looking at Toyotas for one. Quote
tragic59 Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 How much improvement in the ride do you expect from the sway bar? What modifications needed to be made to the bar or the front end to make it work? Quote
tragic59 Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 And what color are those wheels painted? Do you have a closer shot of them? That looks pretty close to what I've had in mind to paint my car... Quote
teardrop puller Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Howard Tarnoff I have already modified my extra dash to receive the same Classic Instruments you are using, however I have not ordered them yet. Could you tell me what tank unit you are using for the gas gauge. They do not have an exact match to the stock unit. One close I think. thanks kai Quote
