I'm wondering what others have used to referbish the Divider Bar channel that tracks the front of the roll up window.

I purchased the Division Bar Channel from Roberts, but it isn't at all correct. When I informed them of this, I was told that's all that is available and if I didn't want it I could return it.

From what's left of the original material, (can't get a good picture of it) I wonder if the fuzzy part of Velcro might be a suitable replacement. It can be bought in self adheasive strips that could be stuck to the sides. The bottom seems to be a strip of felt. Maybe I could find some at a craft store?

Also, is there any replacement options for the seal on the window bar? I don't seem to see it listed anywhere.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Merle, if you have an old auto glass shop in your area they sometimes will have different sizes of the U shaped division bar channel. The place I use in NY had 5 or 6 versions of the stuff and it was pretty cheep. I think he charged me $20 for more than enough to do both sides. Dutch

I got my channels from Vintage Power Wagons. Looks and feels like the original, just a bit longer, but that's easy to fix. Also have to drill two holes in the back. Just tell em what you need and they'll know what you're talking about.

The seal I got from Steele Rubber. It's not felt, it's all rubber, but it looks like it will work.

Bob, is that new piece the same depth as the old one? The one from Roberts would be the right size, but it isn't as deep. It wouldn't fully support the division bar past the vent window seal area. They sent plenty as well. They sell this as a "pair", enough to do both doors. What they sent was 2 sticks, 36 inches long each. There's enough to do 4 doors, with left overs. Their answer to that was... "some applications call for more, so that's why we send that much".

The seal from Steele... how does it attach to the division bar? The original is rivited on. I have one division bar removed from the glass, and you can see the rivits from the inside.

Merle i bet what you got is the length to do a 39-47 truck where it goes around the entire top of the door. That stuff matches what was on my truck perfectly.

When I butt my old piece to the new from VFW they are identical in width and depth, just the new piece is longer. As far as I can tell, it's an identical replacement, just longer, which may not be a problem. I don't think Roberts has this piece..

The rubber from Steele I think will have to be glued, I don't see a way to rivit it.

On my window, there is a metal tab on the top and bottom that folds over the felt to hold it in place.

Merle, When I did mine I used Mohair Channel Liner from restoration specialties, it comes real close to the original material and is available in their catalog for $2.50 ft. If I remember right I cut it in half lenghwise and wraped it around the thin metal insert as was done originally and left it doubled in the bottom of the channel, it comes in two widths and I don't remember which I had on hand at the time, the wider is 2 7/8 and may be enough to avoid having to cut it and still have some to wrap the edges to help hold it in place. I glued it in with 3-m heavy duty trim adhesive. Their ph # 814-467-9842, great selection of goodies. Forgot to mention they have the felt too. Byron

Dave, are you trying to run up your post count? 3 duplicate posts? :D

I just looked through the box of seals that I had ordered from Steele last year and, low and behold, there was the same seal that Bob showed. (Bob, what happened to your pics? All I get today is a Red X) I guess I ordered it from the list, even though I wasn't sure what it was for.

I guess I'll have to grind off the rivit ends while the bars are detached from the glass, then glue the new rubber seals back on. It looks like that piece from Steele is enough for both division bars.
