I need a pic of the throttle linkage for a 1940 plymouth coupe. Can't find a good pic of the setup anywhere in my vast collection engine bay pics. Rodney Bullock if you're out there help a fellow P9 guy out. :D

I'm not sure how it should be hooked up right now, and I'm pretty sure the P15 linkage is different.

Thanks in advance.

Let me ask a different way then since it appears that no one has good throttle linkage pics for my year plymouth.

My current setup single carb is designed to accelerate by pushing towards the outside of the car...in other words towards the passenger side wheel. My linkage seems to be be designed to pull towards the center of the car, making it difficult for me to comprehend how I will ever be able to accelerate with the current linkage.

I also am struggling to invision how i can get an aftermarket cable like the Lokar cable to work. I'm beginning to think that I'm missing some linkage or that the shaft that attaches to the pedal is incorrect.

I found a picture for you. This car was at the Boro show a few years back.

Here is a shot I took of Rodneys engine but it is not as good as the above picture.

Had to include this shot as it looks like a den of criminals planning a bank robbery:D

Don,

Thanks for the pics. Maybe i should be looking at this differently. When you push the throttle on your car does the linkage on the carb move towards the center of the car or the outside of the car.

I'm beginning to think that the point where the linkage connects on the carb is backwards.

Here's a pic of a truck linkage. Same carb as yours. The carb piece rotates counterclockwise. The truck does it by pushing up and your car would do it by pushing towards the pass side of the car..

I think I have found the problem thanks to the knowledgeable assistance from the members on this forum. The linkage attached to my carb will only rotate clockwise requiring a push action from the linkage towards the passenger side of the car. My throttle linkage will only pull, leading me to believe that the carb linkage is installed incorrectly. I don't know whether I reinstalled incorrectly or just happened to have a core that wasn't correct when i rebuilt the carb. I'll try to fix it tonight and see what happens.

This should have me just about ready for when my intake and carbs get in. Everything should be about perfect. Don, you feel like making a trip out to west Nashville to help me with a valve adjustment. I've never done it before and don't want to screw things up.

Omari;

I leave Monday for a 3 week business trip. I will see how things look when I return home. Where in Smashville are you located? I have been working downtown at the FRB for a good while now. This will change in the near future.

Don I live out in Bellevue. Good thing you'll be gone for three weeks....that'll give me time to get my car looking good. :D and do some things to make it a little more presentable.

It'll also give it a little time to warm up. Gonna be 12 degrees tonight.

I dont know Smashville that well but I am sure I can find Belleview. Dont worry about sprucing your car up. I have seen naked cars before:D

Don, to put it in perspective. Take I40 towards memphis and I'm off of exit 192. About as far west of the city as you can be and still be called a nashvillian
