Don G 1947 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Ed, Mine is similarly equipped EXCEPT you can't tell what color it is/was, the frame is cracked, an inside cross member needs to be replaced, the floor is rusted out, the axles/suspension need to be completely rebuilt and the front of the frame is a bit bent. Other than that it is in good shape! Quote
Young Ed Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Feel free to ask any questions. Someone might as well benefit from all the stuff I learned doing stuff over. I did luck out that mine isn't too rusty. The axles were supposedly rebuilt but the rear bearings were shot from being improperly shimmed and the new front springs were the wrong length so you couldnt have shocks! Oh and the axle was totally bent too. Quote
Dennis_MN Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Ed, Hopefully you solved the bent axle problem by now. I just tossed one for a 46 pickup into the waste haulers stuff about a week ago. I still have the front springs in my possession, and they are yours if you want them. Dennis Sullivan:( Quote
Young Ed Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 Axle problem was solved long ago. Swapped it out for a straight one. Other one could have been straightened but we had one on hand. Might as well add your springs to the collection if they look good. One of these days I am going to rebuild a 40 plymouth pickup...... Quote
gumpa_38 Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 I also had a birthday on the 29th. I made it to 57 and I have been basically retired all my life. I get social security and VA disability. I never have time to get anything done. I will sure be glad when I can take a vacation from my retirement so I am not quite so tired. Gumpa Quote
