BobT-47P15 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 We made two trips over the holidays to Tulsa, OK (one to pick our grandson up from the airport, the second to take him back to the airport for his return trip to Texas, where he is stationed in the Air Force.) About halfway between Joplin and Tulsa is the over-the-road McDonalds restaurant known as the "Glass House". It's been there quite a few years. We stopped for breakfast on the second trip. Just thought I'd include a pic for those who have never seen the place. Here is the view from a table in the restaurant. The road is I44, also called the Will Rogers Turnpike in Oklahoma. Sitting in the parking lot at the restaurant was this car hauler with a couple interesting (to us) vehicles on it. [ And finally, while driving around in Tulsa we saw these two vehicles in a driveway. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 The Illinois toll road system, especially around Chicago, uses Oasis stops like that too. It's kind of interesting sitting there eating lunch and watching the traffic run under you. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Cool to see the Macdees like that. So glad you posted that Bob! The yellow Chevy Truck has the same wheels I have on my Sprint and have thought of swapping out those for the wheels on my Chevy truck because those are too large. Now know what it will look like, thanks. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 The green panel is nice..like panels..sort like a pregnant station wagon..anyway..isn't the right stop light an add on..I am thinking it only came with the left light unit... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 27, 2006 Author Report Posted November 27, 2006 Tim, I think the license plate said the truck is a 1953 model, so it probably would have come with two tail lights. However, the first models that resembled this one in the late 40s, may have had only one. The Hudson did not look drivable....think at least one tire was flat also. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 I made the comment about the truck but could just be my eyesight..but on closer inspection looks like a second license plate bracket..could be wrong though...kinda hard to see.. Quote
bob_amos Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Heck with those 2 cars, I want the trailer.. !! Quote
Normspeed Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I noticed that canned ham too Bob. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 I wondered if anyone would take note of the trailer. The license plate on the truck says "Panel 53". By virtue of the license plate, it appears the truck is driven at least some. They did not have any 'for sale' signs on them, just sitting there in that rather unkempt yard. Right along a main road, so they have likely been discovered by many old car people. Quote
