Guest nativespuds Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I have a very clean 1948 B-1- B. All original except the hubcaps, two are differant than the other three. No rust out on this that I can find. The engine will turn over. This thing sat in a Barn in Oregon for several years. I have obtained a Idaho conditional title on it.The body is good except one dent in the drivers fender. Not much of a problem you say..... Well. I want to build a hot rod and love Mopars. I have had at least one guy just about cry and /or threaten my saftey, when I told him I was going to modify this very clean rig. Even my wife thinks I should think about modifing it, and she doesn't even like Dodge's:eek: So I want your opinions Do I rod it? or is it worth $1500 ish and I'll go find a more rough one to build? I don't realy want a stocker flat six. Thanks for your opinions! Quote
brian hood Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 How long have you been married? Is the truck worht more than her? LOL!!!!!!! Quote
Guest nativespuds Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Married almost 20 years:) . She is a keeper. She likes this old truck. She hated my 68 Dart. She just thinks it is one that should be restored to original. Quote
Byronb3b Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I'll have to vote with the all stock option, looks way to nice in the pictures to start carving. Quote
bkahler Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 There are lots of trucks available on ebay that would be great candidates for rodding. In this day an age finding a truck that is mostly complete and stock is a rare find. I like modified trucks as much as anyone but also I realize that finding good restoration candidates is drying up fast. The sad part is Dodge trucks don't command big dollars like the Ford's and Chevy's do. You have a big decision to make, which ever decision you make will be right for you. For myself I'd leave it stock or sell it to someone who wants an all original and use the proceeds to buy a good candidate for rodding. Keep us posted on your decision! Brad Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I'm kind of like the rest. I think the rodded Pilot-House trucks look nice, but I also like the original ones too. It would be a shame to chop up a perfectly good truck, in my opinion, but it's your truck and you have the ultimate say in what gets done. (or does your wife have the ultimate say? ) Merle Quote
PatS.... Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Who are you building it for? If you are a rodder and that's what you want, build it!!! If you are building for the wife, restore it. Restore it for the wife, then sell and build a rod. It's yours, have fun with it. Don't build for someone else. Quote
Johnny S Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 It's your truck but, what I'm seeing and hearing so far loudly suggests this one needs to remain original. Maybe that opens the door for you to get a second truck as well to hotrod .... then you have the best of the best. A happy wife AND two trucks! Quote
mikeinkc Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 you do what "you" want to do. it is your truck and what ever you do with it short of putting a yvehc or a dorf engine in it is cool!!!! slam it, pro street it, just keep it mopar! mike in k.c. Quote
MBF Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I'm voting for keeping it original, and looking for something note quite as nice to start rodding. I realize however that it is yours, and to each their own, and it's your decision. Wish I had started with something that nice! Mike Quote
Guest nativespuds Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I really am not interested in restoring it. If somebody wants to make me a offer I will listen. This could include a partial trade of a another truck body. I am located in the Boise Idaho area. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I'll give you $1500 for it if you can land it in my driveway here in Northern California. Quote
billwillard Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 If you buy a rusted out truck you will spend more then $1500 in body work. Its your truck. ENJOY IT YOUR WAY. Thats what you do. Quote
