Merle Coggins Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Here's one article from the DPETCA site. It's fairly informative. http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/frontend/front.htm There have been others here that have done it. Maybe they can chime in with more. Welcome to the board. Merle Quote

Olddaddy Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I have copies of an article on installing a Volare sub-frame if you need one. I've also installed Dakota clips. It's one of those things that isn't really hard to do, but easy to mess up if you are not careful. If you junk your original front suspension I could use the spindles and steering arms. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 Charlie, I've got a complete front axle out of a '51 truck if you need it, or pieces from it, let me know. Merle Quote

Hey Olddaddy I be interested in those Articles on the installation if it.s no problem . I have the motor out and steering colume out front shocks off and now at the point of taking measurement before I remove front axle Quote
PatS.... Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I noticed while junking a 1980 Chebby half ton pick me up that the entire front steering and suspension is bolted to the frame and would come out as a complete unit. I think it's 8 or ten bolts. Would likely reinstall the same way on the Pilothouse. No welding. I measured it at the time and it's 34 inches across for the frame mount.. Lots of lowering and handling parts available for those trucks and a wreck can be had for free. Quote
