I picked up a couple of the optional factory fog lights over the holidays unfortunately they did not come with the switch assembly. Any suggestions on where I might be able to locate a switch that would work that also looked similar to the original configuration?

Reg, thanks for the leads! I liked the looks of the second switch better so did a buy-it now.

Now to decide where to mount the switch :).

There is an outside chance that I will have the engine running sometime in February. I've been making very slow but steady progress on reassembling the truck.

However I've accepted a transfer to work in Richmond Kentucky and we'll be moving there later this year. From the end of February through October I'm going to be traveling back and forth to Pasadena CA for the design phase of the project. This means that I will have moved the truck while disassembled From Lincoln to Dallas to Little Rock to Richmond. Surprisingly in all that time I seem to only have misplaced a couple of items.

Thanks again!

Conspicuous by their absence are a fuse and or a relay. A relay will take low current through the switch with very litlte load, then connect the high load the lamps through the relay to the battery, keeping the switch cool and keeping its resistance out of the circuit.

The fuse should go, from power through fuse, to switch. The rest of the circuit using the relay is as illustrated.

Power for the load through relay should come unswitched from the battery, power for the switch should be picked up from an ignition on hot source so the lights will go off when the engine is shut off. Typically the posts on the relay will be lables some relays will be self grounded through their mounts to body connection, some may require a seperate ground wire, but both functions the same.

Greg, I had been planning on using a relay but it just dawned on me that I don't have one. I guess its time to start watching ebay to see what kind of vintage looking 6 volt lighting relays show up. Who knows I might get lucky and find a good one!

Thanks!

lots of sources for relays, Napa Tractor supply, radio shack. If you can't find a relay, make sur you fuse the power to swich line at least. Any run good stout wires to the lights, Iwoudl use 10 gauge jsut to be on the safe side.

one of my big trucks had one good and one damaged fog light by a company by the name of "Unity" I believe and a while back I searched on line and found the company still makes accessory lights including old reproduction fog, driving, spot lights, etc. I'm sure they'd also have repro. switches. Mine mounts under dash and is a white turn switch which says "fog" and has a build in glass fuse holder into the rear body of switch.
