old family picture....D24?

My Grandpa was a Dodge man at heart, but was known to go with the best deal. So he's had many different brands through the years. This picture is dated Jan 23, 1949. The photo is a little washed out, but I think its a 49' D24. Am I wrong? I'd be interested in any info or stories. BTW, my grandparents were the best people ever.

It is a 48 model, specifically. It has the vertical piece in the center of the grille.

Here's a 1948 ad. And I have owned a 1947 Chevy---my first car.

It's a 47/48...46 had a different grille. What gives it away? Everything. It's a totally different car than the Dodge, designed and built by a separate company built on a separate assembly line.

Take two pics of each car and compare each panel and every little peice of trim and you'll see the differences.

Check out the very tall hood, the fender sweeps into the door.

Before it was painted Godess Gold and Alpine White: (that's me and Bonzo on the bumper)
