I have my truck completely apart and when it goes back together I may do some mild custom body work. One of the areas that I don't know what to do with is the handles on the hood openers. Has anyone done any custom work for those? For a truck that I want to be a mild custom rod the little handles just don't do much for me. Hopefully I don't offend any of you restoration buffs.

I've got plans only in my head so far of a 39-47 dodge pickup custom. Like yours only mildly custom. To show off my flatsix with dual carbs I was going to remove the hood bottom 1/2s and then use the little hood key locks like the muscle car guys use to hold the hood in place. I've never tried to buy them yet so I don't know where you get them. Hopefully you are familiar with the latches I'm talking about.

I was going to keep mine for looks, but get the handles chromed. I would like to replace the internal workings with a cable so they can't be opened from the outside.

Those Aerocatch hood pins might be a good option. I'll have to keep that sight bookmarked. Looks like you just have to find a place to anchor the threaded rod with the hole at the end which will be the part that anchors into the catch mechanism.
