I just got my turn signal switch and the diagram shows only one wire to each brake light. I have two wires on the brake light, do I just wire them together?  I also got a 12v flasher with the switch will that work with my 6v system?  I’m using my parking lights for the front turn signals which are disconnected from the wiring harness. I’ll run new wires from the switch to the bulb wire. BTW The terminal on the light switch the runs the parking lights has broken off so it is already disconnected.

Do you have a wiring diagram for your truck? I would start there. Also, what turn signal switch are you using? It should have specific wiring instructions (which might not apply to your car). 12v flasher will likely not work in a 6v system, so you might have to order another one.

One wire should go to the brake light the other is the tail or also called running light.  You should have one wire to go to the brake light on the Left rear tail light I am assuming you have two tail lights and one that goes to the right tail light.  Otherwise I dont know why you would be turn signals but I suppose you have one tail light and that is why you are asking?  If you take the left and right rear turn signal wires which are also your stop light if you were to wire them together for one tail light then if either turn signal were blinking effectively your brake light would be blinking and I dont think you would want that.

Your original wiring had two wires, tail lights from the headlight switch and brake light coming from the brake light switch. You need three wires to the rear of the truck. One for tail lights, one for left and one for right. You need to change the wiring so the brake light switch is wired through the turn signal switch. I like to keep mine from the cab, color coded to brown-tail lights, green-right turn and yellow- left turn. The color of the wires are different on aftermarket turn signal switches. But I would wire the rear lights like I would a trailer. Maybe that helps.

Do I splice into the brake light switch or replace the wire with a new one?
