dgrinnan
I remember seeing a post on here once about someone that used, I think it was a Ford bumper on the rear of their 1/2 ton truck. It was supposed to be a very close match and much cheaper than the actual bumper sold/marketed for our trucks. I can't find the post. Does anyone know of a bumper that is a close match to the original?
Dave72dt
As I recall, it was from a Ford Ranger. Not the new ones. The older ones, small truck but I don't recall the year. Check out LMC truck parts. The often have options from painted to chrome.
Robert Harrison
I could be wrong but I dont think the early ford ranger would look good or period Try maybe looking at the rangers on line for early years and see what you think. I do know of people using say mid 50's Chevy bumpers. I could also be wrong but I think that is what LMC caries chevy but ask. I have an original set of rear bumper brackets for a pilot era truck I purchased and am not using as I found something for my WC pickup instead. I would sell these they seem to have been cleaned up painted and have been reinforced by some welding but are the real thing. I dont know how it works here but try messaging me directly if you can? dgrinnan
The 86-87 Ranger bumper doesn't look right either. I will have to keep looking. I might get lucky.
Dave72dt
Dennis Carpenter sells a plain rear bumper for 48-72 truck that might suit your needs and since it's not chromed you can cut and weld to get the width you need. He even has mount bracket that will give you that soggy diaper bumper look. If you need/want a slight bow in it, try a front bumper. GM aftermarket for your era truck probably has options as well. The bumper styles for trucks in this era aren't so different brand to brand that they would look out of place.
dgrinnan
I will take a look. when I got the truck, it actually had a bumper and brackets in the bed. It wasn't until I tried to install it that I realized it did not match the style of the front bumper. I quickly realized it a was a bumper from a Chevy AD truck. I should have recognized it right away. I also have a 54 Chevy AD 1/2 ton. At least between the Dodge and Chevy there are significant differences in the bumpers. Young Ed
I believe it was a Ford F1 bumper that was used. Might have been a front also
