jsd245 Posted May 5, 2023 Report Posted May 5, 2023 Anyone ever do one of these on the big trucks? It seems fairly straightforward without a lot of the complications on rear ends with the crush sleeves. It’s seems I can unbolt and pull the yoke, and just replace the seal. Since the bearing races are shimmed it doesn’t seem like the torque on the bolt that secures the yoke isn’t that critical? The service manual doesn’t really have instructions for this style rear end I can find. Quote
John-T-53 Posted May 6, 2023 Report Posted May 6, 2023 I can't speak for the big boys specifically, but if your flange has a groove where the seal rode, it'll leak again with a new seal. I've had good results repairing with a speedi-sleeve made by SKF. You have to pull the flange, measure the diameter of the shaft, then look up to see what size will fit.... 2 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 7, 2023 Report Posted May 7, 2023 Pull the yoke..make sure no pitting or wear groove...install new proper seal carefully. If yoke has a groove -new speedi-sleeve required. Install as directed. No crush sleeve used in your Eaton 1350...tighten as per shop book torque specs. Of course oil the seal lip. Quote
jsd245 Posted June 26, 2023 Author Report Posted June 26, 2023 So I finally got this done- in case anyone needs it-the Eaton 1350 two speed axle in these 1.5 ton trucks seal and Speedi sleeve parts numbers- seal- SKF 22425 speedi sleeve for the yoke- 99225 1 1 Quote
