I drove across the bay bridge from San Francisco to Oakland this morning and met up with forum member Marty Bose. Marty works at a sea ship referbishing yard and he gave me the grand tour. Impressive to say the least. You think we have problems doing a body off referbishment on wimpy cars and trucks you should see what it takes to remove a 300+ foot ocean going vessel from the sea and then gut it and rebuild it in a dry dock. Picture a 50 foot long lathe that welds up prop shafts and turns them back down to size with very tight tollerences. The sand blasting media tanks could hold both a P-15 and D-24 at the same time. The air compressors to run them have enough horse power to run a top fuel dragster. I recommend to anyone in the SF bay area to pay Marty a visit. My thanks to you Marty and I really enjoyed the time we spent together. Hopefully next visit I can see your car.

Don,

It was fun meeting you. Too bad I couldn't drive my 47 to work, but since it was a work day for me, I wouldn't have had enough time for a proper show&tell/drive anyway. I'll hope you get a chance to see my car sometime soon; I want to know how it compares to your race winner!

Marty

PS How did you like walking underneath a 100 passenger mini cruise ship?

This morning I sampled more of the San Francisco public transportation system. I rode a train under the bay for another visit with Marty. Got up, close, and personal with his car on this trip. I am impressed to say the least. His car ran perfect not once missing a stroke. Below are several pictures of his car.

The return train ride was exciting. As I was riding along minding my own business a lone younger guy came from the next car and sat next to me. A few moments later the true love of his life followed him and she was not very happy. She called him every name in the book and invented a few new ones. She then started beating him up with her fists and her purse. Someone grabbed her and pulled her to the back of the car. She soon returned for round two and then round three. They were physically rolling on the floor with fists flying. I did not get to see the end as I arrived at my stop and had to exit the train.

Marty, your car is wonderful, at first glance I thought it was a v8, Dual fans and all that finned stuff. I bet Don got a kick out of that! I bet your coupe can fly:) Now Don, tell us the rest of the story:cool: what did you do to that nice young couple to make the lady go off like that:mad: Come on Don Give us the skinny:D I am very glad that the forum folks can get together, meet each other and have fun.......I wish the rest of the world could join this forum and stop all this fussing and fighting, such a waste of time:)

Great car. A real driver.

Don, sounds like an above-average day on the Bart. One of my trips, heading for Oakland airport, a group of 6 or so questionable looking (to me) teens boarded. by the next stop, they said hello to a few riders and mentioned they were part of a high school chorale group. After some requests, they serenaded us a capella for several stops. It was amazing!

Might be a Langdon thing.....not sure. The HEI distributor came from Langdon.

Actually they are by MSD, available from Jegs, their part number 121-8842, for $11.99 a set.

You have any chance of making your way to San Diego??

Not on this trip. I have to work Monday and Tuesday and I fly out early Wednesday morning. Close to three weeks on the road and I am ready to head home.
