D35 Torpedo Posted March 8, 2023 Report Posted March 8, 2023 So my car has a Carter E7T2 with scission. I rebuilt it and it seems to work good enough. But it was missing some linkage. I put a lever arm on the choke to use the scission as intended and it works fine. Thing is there is no fast idle linkage like a modern carb. I have to use a stick to jam the pedal down a bit while i let it warm up. What was used to raise the cold engine speed on these cars? Quote
Sniper Posted March 8, 2023 Report Posted March 8, 2023 The Sisson, set up properly, is the fast idle activator. Your service manual shows you how to set it up. http://www.yourolddad.com/choke There is a dog on your throttle shaft that works in conjunction with the linkage coming down from the lever arm you mention. This controls fast idle. 1 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 8, 2023 Report Posted March 8, 2023 E7T2 carbs are for the Dodge trucks using manual choke and fast idle. You could get a passenger carb like a D6H2 Carter and use it or get the needed linkage parts off it or similar Carter B&B carburetor. Quote

D35 Torpedo Posted March 10, 2023 Author Report Posted March 10, 2023 I just found a lever arm and screwed it on. Then bent the linkage as needed. It's better than nothing. 1 Quote
