MarcDeSoto
When people ask about what fluid to put in the Fluid Drive and the transmission, I say to put Mobil Light Circulating OIl iso 32 and 10 W non detergent in the tranmission. But on the AACA Forum, another guy recommends a tractor oil like this for both. Is this product better for the semi auto trans. and the FD? https://www.amazon.com/Mobil-DTE-24-Hydraulic-Oil/dp/B06XCBZRX2/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=shbpx&content-id=amzn1.sym.03bef33a-a357-4fe3-9505-7fd4d6236957&pf_rd_p=03bef33a-a357-4fe3-9505-7fd4d6236957&pf_rd_r=9H20HARCS8HA8A362J8N&pd_rd_wg=jSnHt&pd_rd_r=befc557f-96ef-4fec-a420-37a8028404e9&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d
Dan Hiebert
I wouldn't call it better, just another option.
LeRoy
This is what I used in the fluid drive of my D24 (on advice from someone here in an old thread), its got 2500 miles on it so far and no issues and correct operation. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-premium-tractor-hydraulic-fluid-2-gal-t806383?cm_vc=-10011 I haven't looed at the fluid in my B2B, if it looks like it needs changed Ill use the same. Bryan G
Folks seem to be all over the place; I've read various grades of hydraulic fluid, various types of transmission fluid, and more. I know a lot of research went into the Circulating Oil and, from all I've read, I think it's the hot ticket. That said, when I filled mine I used a hydraulic fluid from the local parts store and it worked fine. Good thing it was cheap because over the course of a year and a half I dumped about 4 gallons out the seal I just bought 5 gallons of the Circulating Oil and that's what I'll fill with once it gets back from having the seals replaced.
MarcDeSoto
I've heard that job is quite expensive. Can you tell us about it costs to do that in case mine ever leaks? I'm thinking of using my junk FD from a 48 Dodge I used to have to learn on. I have the Miller FD overhaul tool kit.

Bernbaum's and one of the other suppliers are advertising around $1250, plus shipping. I found a shop that quoted me $150 labor, plus parts and shipping, and plan on giving them a try. I suspect a lot of the high cost for the others relates to markup as they probably aren't doing them in-house. I'll know more in a few weeks, and will offer the company name if all goes well. Parts price can vary based on what is needed. I do have contact info for a couple folks with used units that they stated aren't leaking; neither of them quoted me a price, though. I'd put some ads up hoping maybe I'd find one that had already been sealed. One guy on Facebook said he had the tools and had resealed units for others, but when I asked if he'd do mine I couldn't get a straight answer.
MarcDeSoto
Thanks. all of us with FDs would like to know the shop if it works out. I hope he's experienced and has the right tools.
