what are you trying to figure out about the difference between the two dizzy's?  The 8 cylinder will had the cam with eight points and the six cam will have 6 points or high spots to make contact with the points to open and close.  The correct points and correct breaker plate is what is important along with the appropriate cap and rotor.

I am interested in a straight 8 car. Just thinking, seems like a big step at this point. Whole new world.

thank you

Frank: The principals of a 6 cylinder versus the flat 8 as the same. You are just added two more cylinders to the engine. The principals of the proper cap and rotor and condersors and points are the same.

So what are you looking for just becasue it is an 8 cylinder car vs a 6 cylinder car?

Just means that you now have to have the parts to support a 6 cylinder and an 8 cylinder car.
