Does anyone have an exploded view of the front sheetmetal of a 1941 Plymouth....I have various books including a 1936-1942 Master Parts List and an Oz Workshop Manual but nothing that shows the front sheet metal more or less in situ or at least an exploded view showing what pieces fit around the radiator and grille areas............any help would be much appreciated........thanks......Andy Douglas

Bob..........thats a good start.....lol.........don't suppose there is a pic of the other side or even better the radiator surround/grille area?...........am trying to get an idea as to whether a 1940 Plymouth radiator surround would work on a 1941 Plymouth.........I have a spare 1940 piece and a mate has a 1941 car but he is 700kms away & while I did have a 1941 car myself it was sold 8yrs ago & am trying to remember how close the 1940 piece would be to fitting.........your pic will help...........the battery tray/shield looks like it bolts onto the radiator surround in the same place that the 1940 pieces attach so thats a good start.........lol........thanks...........andyd

If I rember correctly they are actually a bit different. The '41 having the alligator hood vs the butterfly hood for the '40. Here is what I have for the P15s...

Bob..........that last pic is a big help......the support assembly or radiator surround is essentially the same apart from the upper part that the 1940 piece has........the support assembly as shown looks like it has the two 7/16th captive nuts on each lower side as that on the 1940 piece, 9/16th UNF bolts hold the right & left shields to the radiator support.......................the 1941 models have a wide lower triangular piece instead of the rectangular # 7-31-10 shield that matches the shape of the grille sheet metal................this is a big help...thanks.......andyd.

I think the 40 and 41 have different parts, but may share some.  A Parts List for both cars would help.  All I know is the 40 Plymouth got a new 117.5" wheelbase in 40 which lasted through 1948.  And the 40 Plymouth was the last year for the bare Road King models.  I think only Plymouths and DeSotos had alligator style hoods in 41.  In 42 all Mopar models were restyled.  By 1946, only Dodge still had the butterfly style hoods until 48.  But I assume you already know all this.

Yep, I have had a 1940 Dodge(Oz Plymouth based) since 1969 & had a 1941 Plymouth from 2007 to 2013........the reason I ask is that I am trying to help a mate who has a 41 Plymouth without a radiator surround & I have a spare 1940 surround that should help him....only thing is he is 700kms away from me & I'm trying to find a decent pic showing the radiator surround area......Bob Ridings 2nd pic is a great help............a parts list without a detailed pic doesn't really help as the factory listing is only concerned with the suitability of "factory" parts......1941 Plymouths are extremely rare here in Oz as WW2 had been going since 1939 & very few 41 model cars were assembled/built or imported and are very hard to find.......

..........what I am trying to do is to help a guy who doesn't know what he should have as he doesn't have it and am offering something that I think "may" help him get the car on the road.............whether its an exact factory part for that year but is suitable to work is the key...........lol........I'm a hotrodder, so as Frank Zappa would say "suitability or fitability is the Mother of Invention".........lol..........Andy Douglas
