WillyC Posted April 30, 2022 Report Posted April 30, 2022 I have an early 40s WC 52 with all of the gauges busted out. I bought an aftermarket gauge cluster from Bosch (oil pressure, temp, ammeter) but my engine’s original oil pressure gauge ran on flared tubing and the new set has pipe thread. Does anyone know how to convert from the original to the more modern gauge? Quote
kencombs Posted April 30, 2022 Report Posted April 30, 2022 Are you attaching the original tube to the new gauge? Or attaching the new gauge to the block fitting? A pic might help. But, in most cases an adapter fitting would be available, if you know the size and thread type and count for both sides. I think I would prefer to run a new tube from the block to the gauge with new fittings on both ends. I find it easier to get it connected with all new stuff. 1 Quote
lostviking Posted April 30, 2022 Report Posted April 30, 2022 Take a look online and you can find adapters. There are many options on where to buy. Amazon, McMaster-Carr. I'm sure even your local auto parts store can help you out. 1 Quote
WillyC Posted May 1, 2022 Author Report Posted May 1, 2022 I was hoping to replace all the old gear with modern from the block to the gauge. I will check with our local farm machinist shop for a conversion fitting from flare to pipe thread. Quote
lostviking Posted May 1, 2022 Report Posted May 1, 2022 If they don't have the exact part, order them from McMaster-Carr. I do engineering work, so I order things from them all the time at work. I setup a personal account, they usually ship the day you order. Here in San Diego, where I'm guessing they have a warehouse, standard shipping is often the very next day. I would think it will be pretty quick no matter where you are, just not next day. Quote
