Helping put back together the front clip on a 1948 Dodge d24 sedan. But having a confused moment on how the 2 hood attach (open and close) onto the fenders. I have the body and sheet metal book but doesn't necessarily show they attach or latch onto the fenders.

Can anybody post some pictures for me or video of how the hood opens and closes, please?

Yeah, took me a while to get mine off and I also had to ask someone.  That middle strip piece holding the chrome mounts at both ends front and back. The hood halves would have to slide from front to back to install.  The last pic shows that the front mount is taller than the rear mount even though they look the same.

the hod is just like the one on my 39 desoto. If I remember correctly the fron end of the hingle is not open but is close so that water does not go down the channel. Check this now before you put it back together.  Soak the nuts and threads in oil so that you have a clean and easy thread. Ther mounting studs are very hard to find.

This style of hood is called a butterfly hood because of it resembles the wings of the buttery going up and down.  The other style that hinges at the rear is call or reffered to as an alligator style because of how an alligator opens its mouth.

these are pics of the front and rear latches on the hood of a 48 D24.  They are attached to the inner lip of the fender with two bolts/screws each.

Where does the spring go? The book shows a spring but its not clear where or how it hooks up to latch. Thank you very much  for pics.

This shot is looking at the drivers side. The spring hooks onto the metal slide where the opening cable attaches and stretches to a small raised hook under the lip of the hood about 6 inches behind the front catch. approximately under where my battery charger wires cross over the edge of the hood opening. If you slideyour fingers under the edge of the hood you will find it.image.jpg.aa9b6da0193c73499f83b197a66c8638.jpg
