Young Ed Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 The hood I got off an early 46 parts car has a brace and my almost 49 has the brace too. But my third hood off a unknown p15 doesnt have it. Of course this is the hood I had sandblasted and primed to get ready for my car! Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 My 48 originally had one which I took off to paint . I could not figure how to reinstall it but got a lot of comments from forum members. The consensus seem to be some had 'em and some didn't. Mine works well without and looks cleaner without. Suit yourself, Frank Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 My 48 doesn't have one. Don't know if it's supposed to. Wasn't there when I bought the car. Have no problems with it though. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 My 47 came with one. However I went without it for a long time. No particular problem. Have re-installed it but can't tell a whole lot of difference. It has oval holes so is adjustable up and down a little. Since there is a bracket attached to the seam in the middle of the hood, if you raise the sides you would also raise the middle just a bit. Those that came with the brace originally will have threaded holes in the hood hinges where they attach. Those that came without, don't seem to have those holes. Quote
oldmopar Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 The hood brace was added to the later models I think sometime in 48 they started installing them Quote
