D24 Headliner "Thingys'"

As I , barely recall these hold the headliner.

Is that correct ?

 

If so, where do they install?

On my '48 coupe they are around the door.

Agreed. Although they look a bit different to my D9. They are called "headlining retaining strips "

Yes, you should be happy! And looked after too. They are pretty thin steel in mine and after 20 years of sitting on a shelf mine were trash. Another hiccup that took a bit of effort to track down replacements.....I have a list of things that I would do better next time.....

Another item I blasted and painted years ago to store.  Pete, try the junk yards like Borth.  Maybe?

Clay: Rich Hartung. They are on each side of the roof line The saw tooth edges is what grips the headliner. You should also have headliner bows that wil slide through loops that are sewn into the headline to form the seams. Also paint these these hold the headline up to the top of the roof.

 

Use a plastic putty knife to push the headline material  up  behind the metal brackets and the teeth are what holds the side nice and tight.  The upholstery shop will then use a hand held steamer to get out any wrinkles.  The windlace also tacks up against the door frame along the edge.  When we repainted my 39 I helped the painter install the headline and windlace it took us the better part of a day do not rust the job also note where the assist straps are attached to the rear windows take pictures so you know where they will be attached. They have to cut a hole so it has to be in the correct location.
