knuckleharley Posted September 13, 2020 Report Posted September 13, 2020 You can just splice new wires to the ones that were cut,and then wrap them tightly with electrical tape. I like to add a rubber outside "sleeve" of something like vacuum hose before I crimp the fittings that go to the sending unit. Especially in older cars with cloth insulation over the wires. Adds a little extra protection and costs virtually nothing. 1 Quote
LrudyD Posted September 29, 2020 Author Report Posted September 29, 2020 1948 Chrysler Windsor Hi all, I have another newbie question! ? I’ve got the gas tank out and got the new one ready to put in, but want to replace the brake shoes. I ordered the drum puller, that I found on EBay - it worked great! I did saturate the bolts with “Blaster” (WD-40 on steroids!?), so they came off easy. I’ve got the drums being turned today, but have to order shoes. No one in town carries them - not surprised - so, where’s the best place to purchase brake shoes? Also, how about the tools for these brakes? Looks like I need a “wheel cylinder clamp” (C-416) and a Spring tool (C-312)? Quote
