morson82 Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I found a complete set of port-a-walls at the car yard I sometime go to. These are original and still have the original white rubber on them I will take pics soon and post. Glenn Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 I wonder if those would ever clean up and be respectable. They look pretty grungy. Those clip on walls come in all sortsa different designs. Will check to see if I can locate any of my pictures. Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 ...from a guy in Long Beach. Cost wasn't too bad. I think it was $67 for the set, but I really can't remember the exact cost. I picked up a set of original style trim rings from a vendor at the Paso Robles car show. I paid $100 for a set of 5 rings (I wanted the spare to be as dressed up as the first team). I really don't understand people buying old sets on ebay that need work. They often go for between $50 and $75 for a set of 4. Takes a lot of elbow grease to earn that $25 savings. If anyone is interested, I can probably dig up the guys card. Quote
Young Ed Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 David is that for the big trim rings that make the caps look like wheel covers? Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 I know this topic has been discussed before, but here's a potentially new question: Has anyone ever tried testing these on something other than an old car? What I'm getting at is; would a test on a modern wheel give me a good idea of the viability of placing these on a set of radials on my P15? Keep in mind that I have the 16 inch wheels. Probably a crazy idea, but I'm torn right now between springing for the 16 inch Diamond Back radials and buying a set of cheap radials which I can throw the port-a-walls on. I prefer the Diamond Backs, but suddenly (with my wife's decision to have all new granite kitchen counters installed) money is a little tighter than expected. Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 ...that hug the outer few inches of the rim. Quote
Young Ed Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Dang the hunt continues for the wide ones.... Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 It's just that I was looking for the narrow ones. I'll dig around for his card and you can contact him. He probably has a website. Quote
David Maxwell Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 ...came up with a place selling a set of four trim rings in polished stainless steel for a nice price. http://www.autoamenity.com/KartList/TR-15S.htm Haven't found the complete covers yet. Quote
