Tom Skinner Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 I'm trying to find motor numbers for a 1947 Windsor. My Buddy just bought one, and it is a 6 Cylinder without Spitfire on it. In addition to that there is no prefix C38W before the number on the side of the Block. I would give the number here but didn't ask him if it would be OK yet. Any Ideas as to how I could research this further? Tom Quote
Tom Skinner Posted October 1, 2007 Author Report Posted October 1, 2007 Dear Shel Bizzy 48, There is no prefix on this motor what does that mean? Tom Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Tom Skinner sent me the following. Anyone want to assist him in posting pictures? Don, This is Tom Skinner relatively new to the forum. I don't know how to post a pic of my car in the members list. Can I ask your explanation as to how to Post a Pic? Thanks! Tom Skinner Quote
greg g Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Try Imageshack. You don;t have to sign up yu can just post pictures from their home page. I have found that for a couple pics, its easiest if you save them to your desk top. Open the Images shack page and hit the browse button, locate your desk top in the list of locations then locate you pic and hit the host it button. Image shack will load the pic as a thumbnail. Double click on the thumbnail and it will open a full size pic. right click on the pic and select properties. When the the properties box opens, highlight the url line, leaving off the "http://". then copy that info. When you get to the spot on the profiles box, paste that copied info where it asks for th epic url. here is the link to imageshack; http://imageshack.us/ if you want to you can start a photo blog by registering. This will act like an album on other hosting sites. Then you can keep a file of your posted pics. But again you can use the hosting site without signing up and put up a pic or two when you need to. greg g Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Tom could the first digit be a "I" the might look like a 1??? This may be an Industrial engine, from a pump, welder, compressor. etc. It might also be and agricultural engine out of an old combine. It may also be a rebuilt engine from some one like Jasper. Chrysler sold un numbered blocks to various rebuilders. They may have punched in a sewuence number, or left it blank. Lots of possibilities. Look on the block behind the generator and see if there is a riveted on tag, or a rivet where a tag may have been. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted October 2, 2007 Author Report Posted October 2, 2007 Dear Greg G, The number on the side of the block is 89221 with no prefix so the I theory doesn't hold, however Thank You for trying. I will ask John (my Windsor buddy) to look for a riveted tag near the generator/distributor. Any other Ideas with that number? Thanks! Tom PS Greg/Don Thanks for instructions for my pics, I will post some tommorow. Quote
