sactownog
I am in search of a Borg Warner R10 Overdrive but I am not sure what EXACTLY what I am looking for. reason: my vehicle has a Mechanical Speedo, E-Brake on the passenger side, and shifter on top middle of 3 speed I believe. anyone have ideas what exactly I need to search for? I have found a few on E-bay for $1000 up to $2500 and am not sure if they will work. I see some pressure switch's on some with two electrical ports and am not sure what those are for on the Tranny. thanks for the insight. Plymouthy Adams
may be best to detail the application/vehicle you wish this to fit...sounds like you describing an earlier R7 assembly...the R10 is side shift connections via linkage... DJ194950
I believe you will require a later bell (217 - 230 std. trans the same for many years) housing for the 230 ci newer motor as the 33 bell now in use is set up for a very small bolt pattern for the trans bolts and May be too small on the mount face . The distance from the face to the crank again May be a problem. Only way to be sure is to get one and start measuring? Measure the distance and ask someone here about the R-10 measurements>?? There have been other posts on this forum about using these OD trans in the 30's Mopars and I believe all Do require Frame mod's at the X-member for clearance. Maybe a forum search for R-10 in early Mopars cars?? Maybe there is someone who can suggest some better wording for the search?? It can make a difference. It can be done but with what combo? and work? The change over can be worth the work!! I have one in my 50 Ply. 4 dr. and have also driven my friends 47 Ply. Bus. Cpe. with one. Love them both!!
