I'm looking for a source for Dodge tail lamps for my B1B. I have one and need another. These lights measure 3 1/2 inches across and will hold the "DODGE" script type tail light lenses. I know Roberts has them but no one speaks well of their quality. Has anyone found another source - or does anyone have an extra for sale? I have a left hand and need a right, but then again, another left would do, as well.:)

Thanks

Minnesota Dennis,

That is one sweet paint job on your Dodge. Did you do that metal and paint work yourself? I'm especially impressed just now, as I'm in the middle of doiing my own. The nose is almost finished and I have done the tailgate and back end. The rest is yet to do - likely next spring, as it get's tough painting in cold weather.

PS All my paint work thus far is with a roller. Results to come later.

Vintage Power wagons sells taillights, and they look pretty good, but they don't take the stock "Dodge" lens, and they don't fit the stock brackets. Their light has a chrome bezel and a 2-contact socket.

I'd be willing to bet that they are Ford or Chevy lights.

I bought modern 12v lights from Napa. They are pretty plain lights but they mount in the proper holes like the originals. They are also quite cheap. I plan to use them until I can shell out the $100.00 bucks for a pair of the dodge script ones.

Nope, the truck was painted when I bought it. All I had to do was to take the front clip off and weld on new frame ends and attach a stock bumper, fix the brakes, and detail the engine compartment. Now its a driver.

Grey Beard-how 'bout some photos of your work in progress? I too painted my w Rustoleum a few years ago (rattle cans) as I couldn't stand the primer any more. Soon as I figure how to post pics so that you can see them, I will. Mike

You can make your own lens if you have one to make a mold from but it is not glass just a resin. Get the clear and the dye for the color you need. I may give it a try if I need to duplicate a lens.

Saw this on Classic Car Restoration (DIY channel)

www.alumilite.com/checkout/index.php?cPath=22_31&osCsid=b7a0bf6ceefaeae6c383babb95e94ac4

Update, I emailed the site and inquired if product is DOT approved- Received back that "No! We have not submitted a request for DOT approval of the Alumilite product at this time"

So if your state is requiring DOT approval for lens material, I would't use it for a daily driver. Always remember - CYA!
