1) What is the spring ring that wraps around the brake drum for? Cooling?

1.A) I only have the spring rings on my front drums. Do I need to pick up a couple for the rear drums also?

2)In my unorganized skill, I seem to have misplaced the push-rod and eye-bolt that go into the back of the brake master cylinder. Where can I pick those parts up?

I was told the spring around the drum is for anti squeak. As far as I know, the springs were only on the front drums.

As for the misplaced bolt. I'd keep looking for that. Those may be hard to find unless someone has a few excess parts.

Yeah, the spring is there simply to dampen the resonant frequency of the drum so that it doesn't sing.

anti chatter spring for equalization of pressure around the drum surface..to think it is simply for noise..no..you can actually have brakes grab if you have one on one wheel and not one on the other..really only needed on the front drums...
