Cowl vent knob 1949 interchangeable with?

Ok - this is the cherry-on-top-of-the-whipped-cream-topping" item - my cowl vent knob is broken. Which knobs interchange in terms of fitting? The 1948 version? Chevy ones? I do not want to buy various items just to find out that they do not fit :-)

My 50 Plym plastic gear shift knob was missing. I found that the similar plastic cowl vent knob from a wrecking yard fit perfectly and was very similar in appearance. The threads are a standard SAE coarse size. I am suggesting that many knobs with the same thread size could be used. If it is the wrong color, paint it.

knobs from 53 and 54 are the same shape but are chrome,

I used a chrome knob on my '51 Dodge business coupe project from a '54 parts car I have. As dpollo states, it is was an upgrade from the plastic knobs used in earlier years.

Thomba................the plastic coated knob that was on my 40 Dodge had cracked and chipped so I removed the plastic completely leaving just the diecast alloy inner knob which I then screwed into a short piece of 1/4  whiteworth threaded bar and inserted that into a drill..........put some polishing compound on a piece of cloth and turned on the drill......in less than a minute I had an almost chromed like knob and it looks great................see attached pic..............andyd.
