Rjpond Posted February 3, 2018 Report Posted February 3, 2018 Working on a1955 dodge pickup c-3-c and I pulled the driveshaft to replace the U-joints and now I need help on how to remove the yoke on front of the differential. I’m trying to get to the oil seal. I removed the nut and washer, but that yoke doesn’t slide off thanks scott Quote
59bisquik Posted February 3, 2018 Report Posted February 3, 2018 I used a 2 jaw puller on it. It does not just pull off. Quote
Rjpond Posted February 3, 2018 Author Report Posted February 3, 2018 Thanks for the easy solution, I was overthinking it. I didn’t want to smack it with a hammer, and then I thought maybe it was threaded on did you replace the seal? I has hoping to remove the seal and take it to Napa to get measured but I roughed up the seal pretty bad. I thought you might have a part # thanks again Scott Quote
59bisquik Posted February 3, 2018 Report Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) Let me see if I can find the deal number. Do yourself a favor and get the neoprene seal versus the factory leather. Secondly, take a really good look at the yoke. Mine had a tiny groove and pitting and required a speedi-sleeve Rockauto has the National 7216 which appears to be the leather seal. It’s listed under the cars. The truck one only notes Powerwagon and not sure if they are the same. The only thing I had in the garage was the axle seals for part numbers. You could cross reference the number at Napa etc. Edited February 3, 2018 by 59bisquik Quote
Rjpond Posted February 4, 2018 Author Report Posted February 4, 2018 Thanks for the info, my yoke also has a slight groove so now I ask what is a speedy-sleeve? thanks Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 4, 2018 Report Posted February 4, 2018 did you try typing speedi-sleeve into your internet search engine? it would not only define the item, but will take you to the site that will ensure you get the size and style needed... Quote
