Paint finish

What determines the a deep shine in a coat of paint. The last coat or the combination of layers of paint or is it something else?

Good expensive paint for cars not from a spray can??

Helps to have some experience with these.

I paint for a living. I can say from 25+ years of painting it's everything from good bodywork to prep and final detail. On really nice stuff, I put 3 coats of clear, sand with 600 wet then 3 more coats of clear. Then I sand and buff. Basically, a shitload of hard work gets you deep shine.
