DonaldSmith Posted November 24, 2017 Report Posted November 24, 2017 Is 4-4.5 volts the generator output at idle speed? Generators need rpms to have adequate output. That's the advantage of alternators. They have good output even at idle speeds. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 24, 2017 Report Posted November 24, 2017 it appears it is time for you to break out he service manual and systematically test the charging system as outlined, get you back to speed without buying parts you don't need... Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 27, 2017 Report Posted December 27, 2017 As stated earlier on my 42 Dodge coupe I was only getting 4.5 volts to the headlight socket without the engine running so the new halogen bulbs were dimmer than the conventional ones. I then installed a relay and cleaned all connections and got a reading of 5.8 volts at the socket. Yay !!!! Brighter lights now !!!! Quote
