aj1936 Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 I have a 1936 1/2 ton pickup with three speed on floor. Attempting to understand clutch pedal freeplay adjustment. One question I have -does the adjusting collar have a keyway that positions it in one spot or does clamping pressure secure it to the shaft ? My master maintenance manual does not indicate a keyway. I wont be able to get underneath it and look until the weekend. Does screwing in the front adjusting bolt and screwing out the rear bolt decrease pedal freeplay? Right now I have about 3 inches of freeplay, shifting fine, starts off fine. Previous owner replaced clutch about 10000 miles ago. Quote
johnsartain Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 There is a woodruff key that keeps its position in relation to the shaft Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 These two photos are for the 1938 - 1947 Dodge trucks . They could be correct for your 1936 . From the shop manual . Note that the free play was increased in 1939 to two inches . Quote
pflaming Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 I have adjusted my clutch with a low pedal height, that saves my left leg a lot of lift and makes shifting quicker, looks a bit strange, but then it is my truck. Quote
