48 Fargo engine identification

Good Day. I recently picked up a 48 Fargo and I plan on rebuilding the engine in the near future. I'm guessing by the pictures I've seen on the website that it is a 251 but the markings on my  engine plate are different than any of the information I can find online and it seems some of the numbers may be missing. I was hoping someone could shed some light on the engine number for me. The year of the engine if possible would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Odd engine number, I am not familiar with, now was it ground off and a rebuilder put that on? Who knows, getting a 100 % positive ID on year of manufacture could be tough. There are casting dates on the block around the distributor and oil filter areas, sometime it can identify the year etc..or pull the brass plug, it unscrews over cylinder 6, measure the stroke, if its a 4 1/2 inch stroke, its possibly a 250, 4 1/4 inch stroke a 228 or 236, a 4 3/4 a 265, which I doubt but who knows.....

Take a look at the small round casting forward or the engine number.  You can see the remnants of a couple of rivets.  These typically held a tag atached by the shop that showed specs for over bores and crank journals and bearings.  Two rivets might testify to this unit being done twice.

New Replacement  engines were sold through Chrysler Parts without serial numbers.  These were new, not remanufactured units. The very few that I have encountered were 251s.
