Normspeed Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 Hooked up with Darin (Its Heaven in a 47) today and we checked out the backyard Mopar parts stash he recently found. Always nice to meet another P15-D24 member and it's darned nice of him to share this with the rest of the forum. The homeowner would like to get rid of it all. Up to you to make your offers. I took some photos and I'll upload when I get the time, I'm still on dialup. Here are a few. Parts have been stored for 5+years, some under tarps. The P23 motor was rebuilt by the owner, You would need the finishing parts from a donor motor. Stored in a shed and covered with plastic. I'll post more shortly. I may call dibs on a tranny/flywheel/pressure plate combo. Edit: I see I'm having a little trouble uploading photos, maybe a server thing so I'll try later. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 is that an O/D in the upper left corner? Quote
1just4don Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 I have one of my infamous dim bulb moments. IF soembody 'buys' all this,,,where is it destined to go?? IN other words,, does anyone have enough 'shed' space for the new treasures?? Or enough rental space for awhile anyway,,,till it can be sorted down??? Looks like a great find,,,how much do they 'expect'?? ANy clues?? They should discount 'some' for the work of getting it all cleaned up,,,if thats what they prefer. Look how much they would PAY somebody to haul it away IF that was their only solution!! Quote

Look how much they would PAY somebody to haul it away IF that was their only solution!! The person selling these things is a recently divorced woman who sees the car parts as "junk," but knows that there is some kind of value to them. She's not able to ship, so it would be up to the person buying the parts on arranging the shipping. If you are local in California, you can make an arrangement and time to go by and see the items. She lives in Upland, California...in between L.A. and San Bernardino. Norm...thanks for posting the pics. If you have problems with them, let me know and I can go out and take some more. Thanks for the ride in the '53. She rides nice! Have a good trip! Quote
Olddaddy Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 If those grilles are for a 50 model Plymouth I'd like to get in line for one or all of them depending on costs. Let me know who to send money to. Quote
Normspeed Posted August 7, 2007 Author Report Posted August 7, 2007 I uploaded the pics to Photobucket at this link. Charlie, you'd probably be best to make her an offer on all 3 grilles, you could likely put together a good one from the parts. They would nest for shipping. To keep the lady from getting a lot of calls we suggested to her that anyone interested contact Darin or me first, then we can get you in touch. Like Darin said, she wants this stuff gone but at the same time she knows there must be some value to it. Here's a list of what we saw. Darin will fill in anything I forgot. http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l144/nhcarter1/Parts%20stash/ Transmissions: 5 trannies, no overdrives. two are very short (maybe truck?), three are more standard length. The silver one has a longer than average clutch shaft. Some include the E-brake assemblies. Any help on I.D.ing these trannies appreciated. I'm looking for a parts tranny for my 53 OD project. One clutch/pressure plate/disk assembly. Pressure plate and disk look new or rebuilt but have been out under a tarp and would need some cleaning. P.P. marked 230. One pedal assembly including master cyl. One steering column with wheel and shifter and steering box. One driver side fender, looks straight, has surface rust. two front inner fenders, nice shape One complete rear end with drums. Might be a later model, see the brake drums with studs instead of lug bolt holes. One dashboard as shown. Rough, gauges have some weathering. Looks like a radio delete dashbard. One factory radio, stored indoors. May or may not be a working radio but fair condition, might clean up nice. Rebuilt P23 motor. Needs to be finished off. As it is, it's a completed long block. No water pump, distribution tube, manifolds, carb, thermostat housing, etc. Two starters, one looks trashed. 1 cylinder head Seat frames and springs from a 49-50 Suburban. Rear armrests for a 49-50 Suburban. My photo upload is giving me fits, I'll circle back after posting and add a photobucket link. Quote
1just4don Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I am NOT trying to cause trouble here. Just a realist and been dar,, dun dat. Are you proof positive this stuff is HERS to sell??? Ever hear of the wife that wanted to get back at her husband and next to gave away his expensive sports car,,,just to say, yippee skippee, I hurt ya where you hurt most!! I would have been MUCH more comfy IF--you had said the poor guy died of a tragedy and left this all behind to his widow and she wasnt a car person. Maybe the divorce decree says its his and she gets the house and her only concern is get it GONE!! Maybe the divorce hasnt even been decided yet?? Lots of people say they are divorced(and they are inside their head) but NOT on paper yet. To her if he hasnt claimed it in the first week he doesnt want it!! Short of black and white decree in my face where I can read it and it specificly SAYS this is hers,,maybe prudent to speak to the other half!! After money has exchanged hands and the day after it is all moved and stored,,,ISNT the day to find out you cleaned her back yard for free and it is ALL his,,,items get returned, money does not cause its already spent!! LOTS of loose ends here!! it brings out the worst in people. Quote
greg g Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 If its anything like a friend's settlement, the poor schlub had so many days to claim his belongings and remove them from her premisis. when his dead line past, she sold his stuff. since it was pieces parts and not a titled vehicle what was done after was between her and him and since most of the stuff is untraceable, it probably won't matter. However a hand written reciept for misc parts from the seller would still be a good idea. This would be especially handy in light of the stuff going on where if you rebuild a car or re register it after it has gone off the books you need to have the anti theft unit inspect is for stolen parts. But there is just not that many chop shops interested in P15 stuff. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I can understand the reluctance to buy what could later be claimed as stolen parts. in SC among other places the poleece will seize a car if it is reported to have stolen parts on it (!!) and it's then up to the OWNER to prove proper credentials. Normspeed Posted August 7, 2007 Author Report Posted August 7, 2007 Well, it's up to anyone interested to cut their own deal with the lady, and if anyone's not comfortable I'd suggest leaving it be. For most of this stuff you would need to be fairly local since you'd likely need to pick the stuff up, and she is not in a position to crate, pallet or ship the heavy/bulky parts. Caveat Emptor. Quote
47heaven Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Well, judging by the amount of dust and cobwebs on the stuff, they have been there for a while and it doesn't look like her ex has any intentions to retrieve any of the items. Like Norm says, if you don't feel comfortable, then just leave it be. All we are doing here is informing others of available parts for some Plymouths. I don't see her as a person out to rip anyone off. Quote
