Don Coatney Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Randy; You bring up a good point and I will hitchhike on your thoughts for a bit. Remember the old days when you went to a hardware store and could buy hardware from a bin and pay for it by the pound. These days everything is counted out and bubble packed. I once was in big box store and looking to buy a battery powered clock. Picked out the clock and went to the battery isle. I only needed one battery. All batteries were bubble packed and it was not possible to buy just one. I set the clock down and left the store without spending anything but wasted time. My point being that bubble packing is a marketing strategy that does not always work. Interesting that you mentioned the double layer of toothpaste. That commercial irked me the first time I saw it. A lot of commercials really irk me. I don’t drink much beer these days and I have decided I will never drink another Bud. There latest commercial tells people that there beer has a bold taste and a clean finish. I really don’t know what a bold taste is and to me a clean finish is a good swallow. Quote
Young Ed Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Don I think the hardware stores up here still have a few things by the pound. Mainly nails. Plus lots of them have hardware per piece which is about the same. But I've never seen where you can buy a single battery. That would be nice for my maglite that takes 3 C's. I always have to buy a 4 pack and have an extra one! Quote

I think you can also buy singles at Harbor Freight. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 The rule of batteries at my house seems to be: whatever size I currently need will NOT be what's in the drawer. We always have a few batteries lying around because of buying the multi packs. But, if I need an AA, it seems all we have is AAAs..... Ah, well. Don, which beer DO you prefer???? The one with great taste or the one less filling??? Or some Schlitz, the beer that made Milwaukee famous? Maybe some with the mountain spring water? Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Don, which beer DO you prefer???? Bob; When I drink beer I simply want it cold! Nothing worse than a warm beer. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Oh, by the way Don, we will be coming to Nashville in either September or October.......as far as I can tell.......to visit my mother-in-law for several days. If you're in town then, maybe we could get together for a cold one. Quote
