Jj1981 Posted June 12, 2017 Report Posted June 12, 2017 Ok so I've gotten the b2b to rank the truck will go into gear or neutral without pushing the clutch. Could the plate be stuck or how should I begin to figure out this transmission Thanks in advance I love this forum been a big help Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 12, 2017 Report Posted June 12, 2017 I'm confused by your question. Are you saying that with the engine running that you can put the transmission into gear without depressing the clutch pedal? Like the clutch is permanently disengaged? That would indicate a serious clutch problem. Quote
Jj1981 Posted June 12, 2017 Author Report Posted June 12, 2017 No sorry I can put the truck in gear with the engine off without using clutch I did try cranking once didn't realize it was in gear it surged. Just wondering if something is wrong or if this is normal thanks Quote
Jj1981 Posted June 12, 2017 Author Report Posted June 12, 2017 Also no pressure on clutch pedal Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 12, 2017 Report Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) Oh... Yes, it's possible to shift into gear without depressing the clutch pedal if the engine is NOT running. Since none of the gears are spinning it is possible to get them to slide together with little effort. But you MUST release the clutch, or have the trans in neutral when you attempt to start the engine because if it's in gear with the clutch engaged when you crank the engine it will drive the wheels. Jj1981 Posted June 12, 2017 Author Report Posted June 12, 2017 No I know it will surge or jump I've had several std transmission. But was wondering why the clutch pedal having no pressure. Where should I start to trouble shoot Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted June 13, 2017 Report Posted June 13, 2017 Does your clutch work ? If not , you can easily remove the clutch cover and look things over while someone else applies the clutch pedal . See what moves and what doesn't move when applying the clutch pedal . Block the tires so that the truck doesn't run over you . Quote
MBF Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 No resistance on the clutch? Check the keyway in the pivot shaft on the adjustment collar. The collar may be rotating on the shaft w/o actually moving the shaft. Someone may have had it apart in the past and forgot to put the keyway back in. Quote
Desotodav Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 Great advice Mike... was thinking that myself. Check to see if the 'woodruff key' (part 6-45-3) is still in place... 1 Quote
