Don Coatney Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Just returned from Auburn, Indiana where I attended the Hudson Hational car club meet. Follow the link for more pictures. The kid in front of Doc Hudson is my grandson KI. He really enjoyed the show and got to sit in a race car. Lisa and I brought Ki and his sister Lila home with us for a week or so. I have never seen so many Hudson automobiles in one place before. Had a great time. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v65/DonCoatney/Auburn%202004/Auburn%20Hudson%20show%202007/?start=all This race car was one of my favorites. Quote
rearview Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Very nice. I absolutely love Hudsons. I was at the AMC "family" show yesterday in Kenosha. Only one Hudson in the whole show (but it was a beauty!) Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Don......great pics. Hudsons are pretty darn cool. Looks like Ki had fun too. People associate the boat tail style with Auburn and other high dollar makes, but, as your picture shows, even Hudson made a boattail back when. I wonder how many of these wagons were made? You sure don't see them at shows around here. Quote
claybill Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 my next car will be a HUDSON...if i can find a hornet coupe.. bill any ideas?? Quote
Johnny S Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Great Photos Don......thanks for posting them. Quote
David Maxwell Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 ...I would dearly love to attend!! Such cool and unusual cars/body styles! Quote

eric wissing Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Don, what is the story on this Hudson? I see "Italia" on the front? Eric Quote
PatS.... Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 There are some rare and beautiful cars there, Don. I've never seen a Hudson woodie wagon...until now. Ki looks like he's having a blast with Grampa and the cars. Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 Don, what is the story on this Hudson? I see "Italia" on the front? Eric Eric; This is an Italian bodied Hudson. As I understand it this car and a few others were built as a last ditch effort to save the company. Too bad they failed. Quote
eric wissing Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Don, That is a cool car. Very italian but looks a bit like the cutom cars of the 50s with the rear lights. That must be one rare car. Thanks for all of the pictures. Eric Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Only 26 ever made.....maybe 21 accounted for now. A couple have been found in Europe, so maybe not all were shipped to the US. Too little, too late to save the Hudson company. Considered a 1954 model. Here is a link to an article with pictures....http://www.americansportscars.com/italia.html Quote
eric wissing Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Bob, thanks for the link. Interesting car. Eric Quote
