Guest tagree01 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Hey guys, I am making headway on the interior of the coupe (I'll post pics soon) and now it is time to think about under the hood. I want to put on a dual carb intake and tube headers (Langdon maybe?). If I do, I'll need a new exhaust system. I'm not equipped to fabricate it myself. About how much would it cost (ballpark) to have a dual exhaust system fabricated? Thanks guys, Tom Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Material, labor is a locale thing..however prices on custom work in generally a bit higher compared to out of the box pre-bent stuff. I went 2 1/4 dual exhaust, custom H-pipe with top line hangers and Dynamax mufflers and twin stainless tips..everything is brand new from the manifold back..530.00 all inclusive and took the shop just under 4 hours. I'm running a V8..but twins are twins...your headers will be a bit in cost I would think...if you are like most folks that like the Smitty's they can be had relatively cheap..(Summit Racing) For the record, no spare tire well so was able to center the tank for balanced exits. Chester Brzostowski Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Hay Tim, Nice work.., Really looks A#1 Excellllent... Chet... Quote
claybill Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 i took my 2 26" smitthys to my local muffler man...(not a franchise) he bent and welded both lines and the mufflers fir 250.00. i did it 2 ways (on 2 cars...) 2 pipes more or less side by side until behind the gas tank then one pipe bent and went over to the other side to exit.. this design allows good clearance without gas tank problems the rear dump from headers goes out the drivers side. try to ensure similar or same lengths. bill.. 48mirage Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 This spring I had a guy in SE Kansas instal a dual exhaust on my D30. Running both pipes side by side coming out on the passenger side. He also supplied some SS glasspacks. Stock pipe diameter. $380.00 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I put SS turbo pancakes on my Sunbeam Tiger years ago..those mufflers are very nice..excellent sound also. The ones pictured in the photo above are a lot more expensive...and I have NOT heard their tone yet..car has not been started...I refuse to start this car until a lot more work of the nit picking stuff is done..definitely before the front metal gets put back on the car. These muflers are not cheap..not as expensive as the Flowmasters...apprehensive as to what the tone will be to say the least.. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1∂=WLK%2D17221&N=700+4294922710+400358+115&autoview=sku Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Cost me two bills for custom bending and I supplied the glass packs. Quote
toddbracik Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 How well does that work? It looks like they would put out a lot of light. Todd. Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 How well does that work? It looks like they would put out a lot of light. Todd. Todd; There is a compamy in southern Indiana (Technolsiga) or something like that that makes the lights for P-15's. Dont think they make them for D-24's yet. I am using my sons new Mac puter and I am not sure how to open two windows on it so I cant post the link now. I will try and do so later. Quote
hkestes41 Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 Don, The link for Technostalgia is http://www.cool-leds.com/. I bought a set of the lights from them but do not have them installed yet. When I talked to them they said that they are working on the center light as well but it is not available yet. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 Don's lights work pretty welll.....I was following him some on the Tulsa trip. They flash like 3 times rapidly before lighting up due to applying the brakes. Now, his turn signals left a bit to be desired..... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 That ol blue Plym of Don's is pretty quick due to two carbs, split manifold and T5 transmission. This is the view I usually saw.....had to hurry to keep up. Quote
