Ernie Baily Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 I have installed a 49 Plymouth double action fuel pump with the understanding that it will make the wipers more constant. However it seems not so! How should the hoses hookup? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ernie ernestbaily@att.net Quote
greg g Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 T the fuel pump line into the vacuum line from the intake manifold that goes to the wiper motor. For Brest results, take a trip to the auto recycling yard and get a vacuum reservoir with a check valve and put it between the vacuum sources and the motor up under the dash or on the fire wall. These are pretty common in latevmodel cars and truchs for running climate control functions, head light doors etc. 1 Quote

I have bought 2 of these fuel pumps off Ebay (old new rebuids and neither worked for beans, one both the fuel and vacuum parts quit with about 5 minutes garage time, 2nd the fuel pump worked for about 10 minutes garage time, the vacuum portion was still working I believe. These pumps Will runs the wipers full speed up a hill, foot to the floor when both the pump AND wiper motor are in great conditionj. Could you have a weak wiper motor that nothing is going to overcome it's problems? A vacuum gauge will tell if the vac. pump is working good. DJ Quote
